Katie Reavis

Hi everyone...

Just wanted to let you all know that our friend, Katie Reavis, went to the ER today due to extreme pain in her abdominal area.  She was checked out at the ER and they diagnosed an abnormality in her bowels, possibly an obstruction.  She is being transferred to Barix where she hopes to see Dr. Pupkova before the end of the day today.  Katie said that she's not really in the mood for visitors just yet (and she's not even sure that they are going to keep her overnight... though I tend to disagree) but asked me to let everyone know what was going on.

Please keep Katie in your thoughts today.  I'll provide further updates as they become available.

I received a voice mail from Katie somewhere around 9 p.m.  She said that Dr. Pupkova was going to call in the emergency OR team and that she was going to be undergoing surgery tonight.  I plan to check in on Katie tomorrow morning.  I'll post another update after I see Katie in the morning.

I just spoke to Katie.  She had successful surgery last night.  She had an adhesion that caused her bowel to twist, causing the obstruction.  Katie is now pain-free and resting comfortably... though not exactly thrilled about having four new incision points.  I hope to get up to Barix to see her within the next couple of hours, if she is not released before then, and I'll post yet another update once I get to see her.
