Hospital Stay
My Lapband Surgery is On Tuesday at Magees~Yippee :) I have a couple questions to anyone that can help:
First, How long were you in the Hospital?
Second, When did you return to work?
Third, Anything that I should 'know' that I wouldn't find in the literature given to me by Magees?
Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond.

Congrats on your surgery! Length of time in the hospital varies by surgeon I was in 2 nights, many now are only 1 night, I had RNY.
I had surgery tuesday and was back to work 1/2 days on monday.
Take comfy clothes and if you are picky (like me!) your pillow! It will make for an easier trip home too!
REmember to wal walk walk and sip sip sip!!!

Hi Amanda,
Goodluck on your surgery!!
I had RNY at Magee one month ago (Dr. Eid --- LUV him). Typical RNY stay is 2 nights, and from what i understand it is 1 night for the lap band. I have nothing bad to say about my stay at Magee. The care I was given was A+++.
I didnt bother taking anything major with me, just my MP3 player. I was fine wearing their hospital clothes, but did wish I had taken one of my own pillows.
You will be busy walking and sipping, so i wouldnt worry too much about taking something to occupy your time.
They have a nice family waiting area, even has a fridge with yougurt and goodies for your family. As far as your food...well they have a "room service" menu that they give you. It is a WLS friendly menu (broth, juice, jello) that you can order 2 things from every 4 hours.
Wear something comfy to the hospital, something loose fitting and comfy that you can wear home.
I am still off of work, mainly because Dr. Eid likes his RNY patients to have a 4 week recovery period, and I cannot go back to work on light duty or with any restrictions. I work 10-12 hour days so i'm happy to take off whatever time he wants me to, although i would feel fine going back after 2 weeks. I know that the "rules" are a bit different for the lap band vs. RNY.
Please keep us posted. We will save you a seat on the losers bench.
GOODLUCK!!

GOODLUCK!!
I didn't use your facility and I had full RNY bypass as opposed to the band. I know one of our "daily" posters here, Diane, is a lap band patient so hopefully she will respond. Also you may want to check out the lap band forum as they may have more specific answers.
HOWEVER I wanted to welcome you and say congrats thus far on all your hard work!! Hang on for one wild ride!!
Pam
