Got surgery approval today!!

Received a letter in the mail from my insurance company approving my RNY!!!  YAY!! 

Now I just need the surgeon's office to call me with a date.  I called them and left them a message that I can't be scheduled until 4/20 due to the FMLA requirements of 30 day notice!  Had I KNOWN I had to give 30 days, I'd have had those papers to my employer a while ago!  

So excited!

congrats, and ditto to the advice already provided,along with one more suggestion: start attending a slw support group. Stats show that those who do, have greater success.

yay!!! congrats!! The time will fly by before you know it!!!

My only advice, not that you asked for it! lol but anyway... start living like a post op now - start exercising, walking - whatever you can do. Watch what you eat - limit sugars and carbs, start cutting out caffeine and soda. Put protein first with fruits and veggies second. Start taking your vitamins and drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day.

FMLA is family medical leave act---govt policy saying that my employer HAS to allow me time off for recovery... I just have to give them 30 days notice, which I did last friday.

I've begun a work out plan...will go work out at the wellness center after work tonight.

CONGRATS TO YOU!!! GETTING EXCITTED OR NERVOUS? I AM HAVING FEELINGS OF BOTH! I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT WORK....I JUST STARTED A NEW JOB AND NOW I AM SO NERVOUS ABOUT TELLING MY NEW EMPLOYER I WILL NEED TIME OFF FOR MY SURGERY NOW! AND I JUST STARTED. BUT HEY I THINKT HEY WILL BE KOOL WITH IT.

I'm a little of both.  More excited than nervous.

Congrats on reaching that big milestone!! Getting approval is always something special because you know its really going to happen for you now. FMLA is a wonderful thing - I didn't need it for my surgery but used it the other year when my mom was so sick. Its a great option to have available.
