Hello,
I will be attending a nursing conference next week in Philadelphia and will be staying at the Marriott. I want to try a famous Philly cheesesteak( part of the inside of one). Anyone have any ideas where to go around there? Thanks!

Jim's, 4th & South.  If anyone tells you otherwise, they don't know what they're talking about...

I haven't eaten one yet from Philly... but some people will tell you Pat's... others will say Gino's... funny thing is they are across from each other lol...

There is also the Japanese Iron Chef's resturant (forget his name look at www.foodnetwork.com) there... been told lots of stuff for us WLS peeps... and there is a resturant that has opera singers there while you eat... forget what it is called but both those places are on my list to eat at one day...

I beg to differ with PP suggestion of Jim's on South Street...I mean SURE if you're a tourist, you would never know the difference. My suggestion would absolutely be Pat's @ 9th and Passyunk

Gino's is across the street, but it's a bit too "vegas" for me (if you see it you'll know what I mean)

Pat's is where Rocky wolfed down his cheesteaks in the original Rocky film and there is a nice little plaque on the ground near the drink/fry window.

It's also a nice walk if the weather is good, and lord knows you'll need it after chowing down on a cheesesteak. I would love to have one, but know that post op me would hurl it up in 30 seconds flat. Enjoy one for me!

PS- you HAVe to get your cheese steak Wiz-Wit

Lisa is absolutely right.  The hype over PAT's and Geno is just that.  There a several good cheesesteak places through out the city, but in that area Jim's would be it.

Enjoy!!!!!
