Ok I had breakfast this morning Scrambled eggs 3 -4 oz, 1/2 a large sausage, 1 slice of turkey bacon and about 1 cup of fresh fruit ( and that is probably conservative)  We were traveling home so I did not get lunch until 3:30.  I did have coffee with milk (1/4 cup of milk) on the way home.
Oh also did 1/2 hour on recumbant bike before breakfast.
At 3:30 I ate 2/3 cup of cottage cheese, 8 wheat crackers (20 carbs), banana small, peanut butter 2 tbls, grape jelly 2 tbls, pepper strips, 2 oz of 2% cheese, SF chocolate pudding, and a handfull of grapes. (OK so I know this is too much- burn me for that later that is another questions for the next blog) Total 35-40 g of carbs if I am calculating correctly.

At 7:30 my blood sugar was only 88.  I know with in normal but low for me.  With all that should have been higher I thought.  The only thing I know at this point is I am not a diabetic, at least not yet.

Today was not the first day either.  We were at Hershey hotel and the meals were buffet - large selection, I made what I thought were good choices (even though still too much food) and still struggled with blood sugar.  The only time it was not was this morning.
Thursday
6:30 BS 88
7:00 B: cheese omlette (2 eggs), 1 cup of fresh fruit.
12:00 MauHi, Mauhi 1-2 ounces (fish), chicken 1-2 oz, veggie salad 1/4 cup, Green salad with light dressing 1/2 - 2/3 cup,  fresh fruit 1 cup, Key lime tart and 1/4 " of reeses peanutbutter pie (Ok so I splurged with desert)
3:30  2 hershey minitures (I could feel signs my BS was low)
5:45 BS 89
7:00 Buffalo burger (yes buffalo) 4 oz, 1/2 wheat bun, tomatoe, lettus, barb-Que sauce and honey mustard (maybe 2tbls total wiht both)

I did 1/2 hour on the tread mill after that and this morning 7:40 my BS was 119.

Any one with insight?  Besides eating too much volume, waht am I doing wrong?  And no the chocolate and desets are not part of the normal diet, just a slpurge but the results were the same.  I have days of data and it does not make sence to me.

My father is a diabetic and well low blood sugars have never been his problem. I guess I would suggest getting some whole grain carbs in - whole grain bread etc - that should help to bring up your sugars. Just make sure that you match it with protein to also get to your goals.

Hope that this helps!

When I eat startches, I so head for the whole grain - crackers mostly, I try to stay away from bread or I would eat the whole loaf.

I was using fruit and yogurt for many of the carbs I need, the nut said to aim for 25 each meal with protein of course.  She did not seem to indicate weather startches or fruit were better more carbs are carbs.

I will try more whole grains instead of fruit.

Any other thoughts?

how often are you testing? And you manage on a normal day to get in 3 meals and 2 snacks? And what are you drinking?

I had gestinal diabities with my pregnancy with Lorelei and had the issue with high and low blood sugars... the perfect snack for me was 2 TBSP of raisens and 20 peanuts (I counted them as a fat and a protein)... another snack was cheese stick, 5 crackers, and a oz of meat...

I never worked out until after I ate... other wise I crashed hard... and also are you on meds or not?

I always test before eating in the am and before dinner.  I have tested other times too depending on how I feel.  I get 3 meals and usually 1 snack right after work.  Drinking is usually coffee with ff milk in the am (decaf) and water with flavoring in the PM usually at least one propel or water with propel powder.

Have not thought about the exercise.  historically it is before breakfast but the past couple of days it has been after dinner.  Should check to see if tha makes a difference  too I guess.
