Dr. Gintas Antanavicius (Dr. G.)
Thanks so much Sandie, That makes me feel better. I got this website from Dr. G.'s website. When I clicked on Dr. Bonanni's name a ton of info. came up about him. Once I get to know Dr. G. I will have to encourage him to complete his profile. How did you feel about the surgical staff? I read in the binder of info. that once you get checked in they give you something to calm your nerves. When I had surgery a few years ago they didn't give me anything. Surgery was running behind I was a mess. When I had several of my other surgeries they alsways game me something to take the edge away. I am most afraid of that intravenous line in your neck, ugh.
The central line they put in your neck was not painful, not as bad as some IVs I've had in my arms, and they don't insert it until after you're asleep. But every time I turned my head to the left when I was sleeping all the alarms went off. I didn't need anything to calm my nerves, but the staff were all excellent, they spent a lot of time trying to figure out how I could wear the hospital ID band without it causing my skin to break out. My surgery was right on time, but my room wasn't ready when I was done and I spent about 6 hours in the recovery room waiting. They kept the pain meds coming, so it wasn't too bad.
Dr. G's staff are FANTASTIC and I love them all. I hope you are coming to the monthly meetings at Abington Hospital. They're the 3rd Tuesday of every month and always interesting and informative. Many of the attendees have not had their surgeries yet.
Feel free to ask me any other questions you might have. I worked as a nurse myself for many years, so I can answer things from both sides of the scalpel.
