Last Night at Barix~
I just want to THANK each and everyone that was at the Barix meeting last night. It was one of the BEST meetings we have had in a very long time with topics flowing from light hearted to serious laughs and tears.
Irina said to me after the meeting she feels it was like we are a secret society meeting..She is right while we share our secret connection we also share the most private details of this surgery with each other . Why??? Because we all "get it" when one of us has an issue. We also learned last night nothing is off topic many people held the floor last night of course our fearless leader Dennis started us off but then Katie, Mike, Patrick, Greg,Shilpa, Angela (sorry Angie just don't listen to Shilpa and me on scale advise
) , Kristen you did awesome stepping up last night and bought us some laughs with your issues and guess what us women got the hormone issue! Also many others took the floor last night...I am sure i am forgetting some of you but we all do this support thing so good!
Of course last night I think the one that effected all of us was Jessica she was new out of surgery she opened up to a room full of new people yet everyone felt her emotion and all offered a different piece of advise the one that struck me hardest was Chris here he was not a week out and he was offering advise to her. THIS is EXACTLY what we are about!
It was late night at Barix for some of us we stayed with Jessica for a long time after the main meeting and to see that was just a WOW moment.
We are a family and it is up to you just how much support you want from each of us but the support is out there 24/7 if you need it and most of all WANT it.

I agree about the meeting last night. I felt so guilty flaunting my size 4 WOW's after hearing Jessica's struggles. I gave her my information I am hoping she will reach out to me. I love you guys and have already decided to join my mean girls for girls night out at Bennie the Bums! Thank You so much for being there for me!

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

I agree, it was an awesome meeting. It just confirms what I know best - that we all need each other. We are the ones who truly understand the struggles and the WOWs. Our family and non WLS friends can be supportive but only WE can truly empathize. Your talk to Jessica was right on the money.

It really was a great meeting, I was just talking about it to my co workers because while they are all naturally skinny, I like to share my journey with them because I'm almost one of them now.
I was saying how I wouldn't trade having gone to Barix for my surgery for all of the Abigton/Penn/Jefferson's in the WORLD. I'm so happy about my decision to have WLS at Barix.
We are truly truly prepared for life after WLS like no one else is and that is so important considering the dicision we've made regarding what we can put in our mouths.
GREAT MEETING. Dennis as always was a great leader during what was a crisis for one of our own.

Hello...I have to agree with all of you! It was my first post op meeting last nite & I have to say I was very impressed. I was telling my sister & son how wonderfully warm & caring everyone was! It felt like a family there! Everyone is genuinely happy for each other's successes & accomplishments & ready to give a shoulder to cry on if needed also!! Thank you for making this a wonderful experience & I will definitely be back for other meetings!!
