Hello Everyone!
Hi!
I just came across this board and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 26 year old Pittsburgh girl who has been on this site since December. I am halfway through pre-op process (6-month diet and all that jazz) that my insurance requires. Everything is going smoothly. Thank God!
I would love to connect with people that live closer to me for support. It seems like there are no support groups in Pittsburgh. My surgeron has one but it only meets once a month on Mondays (of course the day I work late) and it's almost an hour away from me.

This really seems like a great forum. It'll be nice meeting everyone!

Shameless plug here - this is the BEST forum There are so many wonderful wonderful people and we are more like one big family than an online chat forum. You will meet soooo many people here in so many different stages.
Look forward to getting to "know" you and follow your journey with you. Congrats on being 1/2 through the process. Sometimes it can seem to take forever - but then all of the sudden your surgery date will be here and you'll wonder where the time went.
Congrats!
Pam

welcome...this IS a great board!! Stick around, I am finding more and more pittsburg peeps here as the journey continues.
I'm near the airport/robinson area. Maybe we can find more for the bandwagon...hoping that the western PA contingency can get organized, a cooking class/support group would be great.

Hi Kara!
Yes, St. Margaret's has one on the last Tuesday of the month. I went to the last one (in February), but it is a long drive. I'm from South Park. Where are you? I'd love to get together to talk with other Pittsburgh folks!
Feel free to email me (not sure how PM works) !
This is a great site. I'm also in the midst of my 6 monthly visits for the insurance and am hoping to be schedule for surgery in June. I'm a Preschool Director and will be off for the summer! Everyone here is so supportive & helpful, whether you have a question or just want to share the + and - of this whole process!
Keep in touch!
Pat
Wow ladies! I didn't expect so many responses. You chicks are great!
I'll try to just respond to everyone at once.
Thanks for the suggestion on the support group at St. Margarets. It is a little farther than I'd like to travel, especially since I use my boyfriend's car and I hate to be a burden. I live in Dormont.
I did grow up out that way, so I guess I could take care of visiting my mom too, so she'll stop with the guilt trip... eh... lol
Are the support groups just for anyone or are they for people using St. Margaret's, or UPMC's, program? I'm going to a surgeon that is with Sewickley Hospital.
I'd be totally down for getting involved in organizing something. I may even have a friend of the family, who is a NUT, that would get involved. Cooking classes or something would be fun. I love to cook (I'm Syrian and Italian... grew up with the BEST foods) and at first was very scared that I wouldn't be able to make the neat creations that I enjoy... and then I found EggFace and was given new hope...
Well I have an early, very long, day tomorrow... so I'm off to bed.
Talk to ya all soon!
