Hi All ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/happy.gif)
I apologize for my absence over the last month -- I've been very busy teaching, trying to focus on getting my exercise in, and I just got back from a research trip to Spain.
My new stomach has been so good to me -- as I am to it. Just one dumping episode over a month ago after some raw carrots -- but since then I seem to be doing a good job with the water, food quantities, vitamins, and the right types of food. So, since I started this journey, I've dropped from 275 lbs in December 2008 (and I had my RNY surgery on 9 Jan 2009) to 223.5 as of today. It feels great to be rid of those 51.5 lbs and I feel great. I know the last 40.5 lbs will require more effort, but I am ready for that challenge.
I hope everyone else is well. I look forward to reading up on all the changes since I've been gone. Lastly, here's a quick video I made from the short time I was in Madrid, Spain. Just a quick selection of clips of a Saturday in Madrid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqiQlCUi0_8
Enjoy, Roger

No need to appologize for your abscence - you are living and enjoying life, which is how it was meant to be in the first place!
Your journey sounds awesome, especially this early out - congrats on all of it and keep up the continued good work!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)

Sounds like you're doing great - we all disappear once in a while - life - it happens, right! You are a brave soul for attempting raw carrots that early out, tho - something I still have difficulty digesting so I tend to stay away from them. Its a constant learning process, tho - something you can eat one day will totally turn on you another day.
Keep up the great work - Spain sounds lovely!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Brave soul? Perhaps not -- just plain stupid! Ha. Ha.
Retraining how one thinks about which are "good" foods has been the most interesting part of the process.
