sorry, i'm sure this has been asked and answered time and time again but could someone give me the info. an adress/room number/date/time and whether it is o.k. for someone who is not a barix patient to attend (i had my RNY over 2 years ago as a self-pay in Mexico) and have not too long ago moved from TX to Yardley, PA. i would love to meet some fellow WLS patients in person.
any info. would be greatly appreciated. thanks. Nat

The Barix meetings are as follows:
280 Middletown Blvd.
Langhorne, Pennsylvania 19047
1st Saturday Meeting: The first Saturday of each month. 12p-4p All stages. The first half is broken down into smaller groups for more "intensive" support, based on time out from surgery. Then there is a small break and then the whole big group reconvenes (sp?) for about the last two hours and is one large support group meeting.
Pre Op: 2nd Tuesday of each month 7pm, main lobby. Focus is mainly pre op - although there are some post ops who go for some additional support and to answers pre op questions
Post OP: 3rd WEDNESAY of each mont 7pm, main lobby (this is THIS Wednesday, 3/18 by the way) Again topics are obviously post op related, although it has been known to have pre ops attend. The meeting generally goes to about 8;30pm and then generally speaking there are people "catching up" and talking till about 9pm on their own
There are non Barix people who do attend the meetings. They do obviously teach that you should always follow your surgeons guidelines etc etc etc.
Also, I'm not to sure where Yardley is, but Liz R opens her house in Easton, Pa each month for a support group/cooking class. There's normally a menu type thing posted. They ask you either bring a donation and or an ingredient or WLS friendly dish and recipie to the meeting. Her next one is 3/21 Noon - ?? Liz lives about an hour away from Barix (as do I, we live in the same town) and her cooking class is WONDERFUL. And it is "nondemoninational" if you will regarding surgery, surgeon, length out, etc etc etc. The date changes each month. You can look for her post here as she just posted about it a few days ago.
All of the groups are wonderful wonderful people who have become very important close friends to me and so many others. Someone is ALWAYS there to give you a shoulder to cry on, an ear to talk to, and a kick in the arse if needed.
Hope to get to meet you!
Pam

hello....I spoke to Dennis , the support group leader, and he told me anyone is welcome to the support groups....I had my surgery somewhere else too and have attended two sat meeting so far and they have been so great, the people and interaction is so helpful and they also have a nutritionist and a psychologist there that goes around to the different groups........you will enjoy coming to the group.....I will miss going for the next three sat. because of other commitments, so if your there in July I will make sure I say hello..............Liza cookiing class also is great....I have been to two of them, and again won't be there this month on the 21st because of other plans....so much to do, and not enough hours.............lol....lol.....Isn't yardley near abington Hospital? they have a open support group meeting there too once a month I think, check it out. By the way, Nat, there are allot of guys at both meetings, so you should feel comfortable around all the ladies..........................lol.. Lois
