Hello all

On April 25, 2009  registration starts at 7:30am and the walk is 8:30am there is a walk to fight ALS at the Oxford Valley Mall ( we all know where that is Barix Babies)  the walk is approximately 2 miles you walk weather permitting the perimeter of the mall. I am doing this walk as part of team with my cousin Laura because ALS took her mother who was my Aunt Mary's life in a very fast way. It is a horrid painful way to pass.

Laura is trying to get the biggest team to walk for ALS that day along with donations so if you would like to join us as part of the Kit Kat Krew please come out to walk that morning or even make a donation.
I will post the link that will take you straight to the sign in page to join as part of the Kit Kat Crew information to sign up or sponsor is to the left of the page.

The paragraph below is straight from Laura's message.

OK. We now have a website for our walk on April 25th at the Oxford Valley Mall. If you want to join our team or just send a donation, either way, you're supporting a great cause. Here is the link to our ALS Walk Page:
https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=299365&lis=1&kntae299365=7CE59FEEAD6249319F202D06883D58F6&supId=248930974

Once you're on this page:

1- Click onto "My Team Page"
2- Click onto "Join My Team"
3- Agree to waiver and the site will guide you the rest of the way.

I look forward to personally meeting everyone at this event.

Together, we can "Defeat ALS!"

I had to Google it too - another name for it is Lou Gherig's DIsease, it is a degenerative disease of the brain and nervous system

Great cause Beth - good luck with the fund raising!

Liz is right....also a form of Muscular Dystrophy.  It robs the muscles of strength and ability to move.  The most horrendous thing is that it generally strikes in mid life and the mind is completely active until time of death.  So basically you slowly become paralyzed unable to move, the muscle of respiration is eventually paralyzed so you either get put on a ventilator if that is your wish, or (and I hate to put this so bluntly) suffocate to death one day, all without being able to say anything because generally by that time you have lost the ability to speak as well.  It is a horrendous debilitating, painful disease.

I only know all that because my uncle died of Deuschenne Muscular Dystrophy and since before I was born my family has been a HUGE participant/active members of the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Assosciation); the one that Jerry Lewis does the telethon for every year on Labor Day.

I will definately look at my calendar to do the walk if I am not working.  Either way, you will at least get a donation
