how do i find a good surgeon to do my lap-band?

I live in the Phoenixville area in PA, outside of philly and I am not sure how to go about finding a good surgeon to do my lap-band procedure.  I have Aetna PPO insurance, what are there titles - Internal Medicine - what..ect. I can't seem to come across the doctors I do know.

Start with your PCP. Have him refer you to one. They will know who is in your area and who your insurance covers. You will need a refrence/referral from them anyways so you may as well begin with them.

You can try Barix Clinics in Langhorne - a bit of a drive but WELL worth it - Docs are FAB! Dr Boe and Dr Pupkova - they are usually listed under general surgeons. There is also Dr Brader in Lancaster - he was my surgeon and is fantastic!

You can also check your book or the website for Bariatric Surgeons.

When looking thru the provider handbook, search General Surgeons and call each one to find out their specialty. 

To narrow your search ask the ones you are calling if they know which surgeons perform bariatric surgery.

In addition to Barix, which is fantistic, my sister is hoping to have lap-band at Jeanes Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia.  Jeanes is owned by Temple and her surgeon is one of Temple's top surgeons.  However, I am partial to Barix.
