I'm not an expert but for a lapband patient I think you're losing quite well - banders don't normally lose as fast as RNY patients so don't compare the two. 42 lbs in 2 months is phenomenal! When was the last time you ever accomplished that? If you really have questions then you need to check with your surgeon or nut and ask them, but I would say that you are doing quite well...be patient - you didn't gain it overnight - you won't lose it overnight. Have you had a fill yet? Maybe you're due?

Regardless, Congratulations on losing the 42 - that's awesome!! And if you're feeling well and doing well it sounds like its working like it should.

OK - not sure how that happened because now you are listed as RNY, but again, 42 lbs is really good considering you only have about 100 to lose total. I only got weighed every 3 months at first so I don't know how much I lose in the first 2 month but it was probably close to what you lost. Relax and enjoy the pounds you have lost, and know you are going to lose even more. Its not a miracle - its a tool - and you have to work with it.  Keep your food logs - get your protein in - and exercise.

What you don't want to do is compare yourself to others on the board, as tempting as it is, and I have done it myself - it can be extremely frustrating because everyone is different. Age, how long you've been overweight, your own body chemistry - these all affect how much and how fast you will lose.

Again, you're doing great even with the RNY - that's a lot of weight to drop in 2 months!!

I don't know what happen to my profile because I had RNY on 1/6/09.  I realized that it said Lap Band when you responded to my thread. Weird?

Thanks for your support

# lost doesn't matter.  % does.

I don't know the percentages for a lap bander.  For rny the "gold standard" at one point, was considered 50% of excess weight in the first year.

So...if an RNY patient had 100 pounds to lose - they could expect to lose 50 pounds + in the first year.

Now take a second RNY patient who had 200 pounds to lose.  They could expect to lose 100 pounds + in the first year.

So even though their numbers would be drastically different as far as actual poundage is concerned - it would be equal as far as percentages go.

And 42 pounds in 8 weeks = 5.25 pounds per week.  How many other times have you lost 5+ pounds a week CONSISTENTLY???

KEep up the phenomenal work and keep working your program - it will work for you!
