That sucks, but take it in stride.  I think, the older people get, the less they censor themselves!  And sometimes it's just a generational thing.

Here's my old man story: I was in my 20s, back in the 80s, working in the accounting office of a car dealership.  I was filling in for the receptionist/cashier one day and had my head down, reading some papers, when a loud voice from across the window said, "I want to see the old colored woman who works back there!"

Now, he was referring to an older woman I adored and respected.  I prepared to give him a piece of my mind and raised my head...to see he was a little old, old, old black man.  Ahhh...I just let it go.

Older people, in my opinion, believe they can say whatever the hell they want to to WHOMEVER they want to.

Right now I don't think that is appropriate.

When I'm 80?  Perhaps I will change my tune, LOL

They can be brutally honest and a little too outspoken. It's mostly amusing to me. And kinda refreshing. I honestly don't mind it. I have learned to let it go in one ear and out the other. And throw a few shots back when needed......LOL

However, on another hormonal day, I may have threw my hot coffee in his face and then cried like a baby........ha ha ha. But I have been keeping my pregnancy emotions at a low level and am controlling myself quite well. Ha Ha.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I'm really glad to hear you don't let these types of comments upset you Jodi, and the comeback you gave him was quite amusing ;)  Nevertheless, I'm sorry that he said that to you and like the others have already said, I think that older people seem to lose some of their censoring abilities ;)

I am blessed or cursed with the gift of wit.  I would have said to him...are you always this rude or is today my lucky day?  Or just because you are an elderly person it doesn't give you a pass on being unkind. Enjoy your coffee and watch Norman eat his heart out.  Only kidding Norman. I personally do not ask someone if they are expecting for obvious reasons. I can remember being in a Walmart and standing next to someone who someone else said ohhh can I feel the baby in your tummy and the girl saying what baby? It was a guy asking if he could feel the tummy.   Needless to say it took alot not to break out in hysteria. So I for one am very careful. Talk about hoof in mouth disease.

You should have said "Well, now that we know what MY excuse is, what's YOURS???".
