Pasta Question
Ok ok...I know we're "back to basics" and I for one generally try to stay away from carbs - but I want to make pasta some time next week.
I know there a BUNCH of varieties of low carb and high protein varities out there. I also know at Liz's I've heard Susan say one brand is really really crappy and the other brand is pretty good.
Do I remember which one? Of course not!! Did I write it down?? Don't be ridiculous!!
So...what kind of pasta do you eat....

The only one my pouch will let me consume in small quantity is "Dreamfields" comes in a black box, expensive but worth it. I tried the Barilla high protein that did not sit in my pouch very long. I can also tolerate, also in small quantity, spinach fettuchinni which I make with a light sour cream, one small egg yolk mixed in, lots of good locatelli cheese (my version of alfredo) sauce.
Susan is the one who told me about Dreamfields, so I believe that is the one she said is really good.

Yes - I have seen Dreamfields in the supermarket before....and if Susan told you about it I guess that is probably the one. I'm not looking to have a whole bowl of it, of course, but a little bit would be nice.
Thanks for the response, Laureen.

Hey Laureen,
I like the alfredo idea with the light sour cream...I had never thought of that. My mom suggested I use the condensed milk in a can instead of cream for alfredo. I have not made alfredo sauce since my surgery, so I will give yours a try.
Hugs,
Trish

Depending on how much you pasta you cook. . .
Recipe is for box of Noodles (adjust as necessary), but you can reheat leftovers in microwave. . .
2/3 c of light sour cream
1 egg yolk
whisk yolk into sc and mix into cooked noodles, sprinkle with good grated cheese, some pepper to taste. I also use same mixture sometimes w/frozen french style string beans.

Pam - Susan likes the dreamfields - as do I. It doesn't upset my sensitive pouchie at all! I can only eat about 1/2 cup and do maybe once a month. I have also had brown rice pasta and that sits fine too - not sure where that came from, my mom got it for me - I would guess Shop Rite.
Hope this helps!!
my favorite pasta is broccoli sauteed with lots of garlic in olive oil over fettuccini topped with ricotta - yummy!
