Peanut Butter Q's?

When I had my surgery over 4 years ago, you could only get 2 types of peanut butter. Creamy or crunchy.

Well regular PB makes me DUMP!

But I see alot of you eat PB as part of snacks, and I have noticed a variety of PB's at the store. I just haven't had the chance to read the labels. (grocery shopping with 3 kids doesn't allow for leisurely label reading!)

So out of laziness, I am asking you guys to suggest some good PB options for gastric bypass patients. I am hoping for suggestions I can go to my local store and buy and avoid ordering online, but whatever info you have.

Thanks!!!!!

Actually, they sell it in some stores -- check their site.  I found it at a store near where I work in Princeton, NJ.  PB2 rocks!!!

I use Simply Jiff - it has less sugar than regular PB and isn't oily like some of the natural stuff out there. I dump just looking at sugar and this doesn't bother me at all.

The PB2 Patrick talks about is awesome and hardly any fat! You can eat it as a powder (I dunk fruit in it) or you can add water to make is spreadable.

I also get the simply Jiff or if you go in the organic section you can get 100% peanut butter with nothing added - this is too sticky for me though - my pouch doesn't like it plain!

Hope this helps!

I use natural peanut butter, I think Smuckers makes it.  It has no sugar at all, and the oil is on top, and has to be mixed in.  It is a different consistency, but I am used to it.  It is worth the try.  I have been using it for years, even prior to my surgery.

I use Peter Pan, grew up on it. We were eating generic but decided to go old school, there are only a few things I pay full price for (Miracle Whip is another one) soooo checked out Peter Pan and it is lower in sugar. Still can't eat alot (noticed it gives me the spins if I do) but usually all I want is a taste (LOVE it with apple slices)

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking of getting the smuckers and trying it. In my online search for peanut butter, I found that smuckers sells "mixers" for the jars for the natural PB. And I just may get it and see!

Hi Jo,

I use Simply Jif also...I don't have a container available to look at right now, but I believe there are 2 grams of sugar per 2 tablespoons.  I like it and have not had any problems with it.

Good luck!

Lisa :)
