Question..

Okay so for the past month or so I have been getting sharp and shooting pain right underneath my rib cage. I want to say the pain is sharp and usually when I am getting off a chair or sofa so I would say it happens with sudden movements?? Does that make sense? Anyway so today it took my breath away at work so my friend suggested I call Dr P and she was in surgery but she called me back. Anyway I described my symptoms to her and I asked her if it could be my gallbladder she did not seem to think so but has suggested an ultrasound of the gallbladder to rule out any stones or problems with my gallbladder. My friend at work told me that she had to have her gallbladder out and it felt like heartburn all the time to her?? I don't have those symptoms but something is definately wrong. Also I have Arthritis and am on Humira and a small dose of Methotrexate and have been getting large black and blue bruises on my body without banging into anything so I ended up calling my Rhumatologist who is on vacation so her associate doctor told me to skip my dose of Humira this week but get blood work done for a marker that could detect if I have some blood disorder that is causing this??? I am so confused and scared and I am sorry this post is so long but thanks for letting me ramble on and on..

People comment on my over 100 pound weight loss and attribute it to my WILLpower, but it is my WANTpower: I WANT to be thin and healthy more than anything else!

My MIL has RA and I know from time to time she got strange pains and bruises and after adjusting her meds she was fine... but it took a few months to rule out everything...

Now I don't know how short you are... but I'm only 5'2" and learning from an US a few years ago my kidneys are up pretty high... so maybe it is something with them...

But, get the blood work done and the US and I will hope and pray that it is nothing... hang in there hun!!! HUGS... well maybe not... don't wanna hurt ya hehehe...

I don't have a clue what to tell you, except don't worry, just get the tests done and see what is wrong.  The tests will identify what is going on, and you will be fine.  If you need to talk, give me a call.  You helped me when I needed a rheumatologist.  I can listen and encourage you, if you need it.

Hugs,
Trish

It doesn't sound like gallbladder to me, either.  Hopefully the tests shed some light on everything.

I had my gall bladder out in September and I had sharp shooting pains but only after eating or drinking, movement didn't affect them. They were sharp enough to take my breath away and the worse ones would wrap around to my back.

I wouldn't worry either (easier said then done I know!!) wait and see what Dr P finds out and go from there!

Shilpa, I am just reading your post now and I wanted to let you know I am thinking of you.  I'm so sorry you are in so much pain and I hope you are able to get some answers soon and that your pain subsides very soon too.  Please keep us updated.

Thinking of you,
Lisa :)

Oh, I'd be concerned too, but don't waste energy worrying, get the tests done and wait patiently.

It could be just a coincidence of several separate issues at once.  I know I get a similiar pain but I have muscle in my rib cage which is chroniclly strained.  (I like to dance and I get into it) As soon as its gets strained once I pull it out repeatedly for like a month and it make we want curse and cry.

I'm sure everything with turn out ok.
