Barix??????

Hi everyone!
Quick question does anyone know what is going on at Barix?  I had my three month check up and then my 6 month check up was cancelled and rescheduled three times by Barix so it turned into my 9 month appointment which was also cancelled...so I have not been able to call and reschedule yet but just read that someone else has to wait two months for an appointment which would then put me in at a year out...has this happened to anyone else?  I am starting to get a little worried here....

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thanx!
Laura

LAura - might have something to do with the fact that they are down to 2 Dr's (as far as I know) now that Dr Marymore is gone Dr Boe and Dr P are covering Dr Brader and Dr M's appts. I know that I had heard through the grapevine too that Barix was thinking of cutting out the 6 & 9 month followups. Not sure how true that is though. I also believe that they have them doing surgeries most days (maybe someone can confirm this) so I would imagine that takes until after lunch - then they have just a few hours for post-op appts and pre-op stuff.

Hope that you are able to get in soon!

Thanks Liz!  It just is a bit frustrating because I really am feeling beyond great these days and of course me and the hubby would like to start trying for a baby...but of course I want the okay from the great Dr.P first!!! Barry is quite a few years older than me and would like to have another baby before he is 50!!!LOL  Plus i am in my 30s soooo we would like to get an okay to proceed and soon!!! I think that is what has me so upset and frustrated with Barix right now...I don'tknow..maybe I should put baby on the back burner and lose another 50 lbs first....sigh!!  But thank you for your response! I really do appreciate it!

I hear ya!! I have a feeling that Dr P is going to tell you to wait until at least 12-18 month out or until you are at goal / your weight has stabilized for a while. THat is what Dr Brader told me. Here's to hoping that there is a baby in the not so distant future!!

Liz-
That is what I remember from the consult...1 year at least and 2 years is best...but who would have thought then that my biological clock would be ticking this loud ...this soon!!???  Anyways, I am still losing and am down about 100 lbs...so it is a good start..ideally 50 more lbs would be awesome!!  But we will see!!

Hope that you will be hearing the pitter patter of tiny feet very soon!!! Hope all is going well onyour end!!  Are you doing okay with everything?

I am doing great thanks! Fighting a bit of a sinus infection(I think) at the moment - but nothing that I can't handle!

I think that the big thing with when to have a baby is when you stabilize your weight because if you go into ketosis (from loosing weight rapidly) and that can be dangerous for the baby. It can be done though!!! Good luck with the planning - it's so exciting!

All the more reason for the Marymor patients to want to follow him to Hell and back, rather than transfer to another Barix doctor.  I am hoping to find out where Marymor lands before my three year appointment in August.

Hey Laura,

Not to be a butinski here, but aren't you supposed to wait a year or two post-RNY to have a baby?  Make sure all your levels are where they need to be. . .  for some reason I thought when I attended my initial consult that Dr. P said you should wait 2 years before attempting pregnancy. . .  Sorry, that is a question for Dr. P, but what I remembered her saying. . .

Hope you get your green light and have a wonderful family that you will be so up to enjoying with your new found health!

Hugs, Laureen

Laureen-
No you are not a butinski!!  Yes they said at the initial consult 1 year at the least 2 is best....but for me the biggest reason for having the RNY was to get down to an acceptable weight for conception...I am not planning on getting pregnant tomorrow but would like to get some sort of time line in place for myself and hubby...because when all is said and done there is a huge possibility more likely than not that I will not be able to concieve at all..and in that case we need to start either IVF or the adoption process both scenarios take an enormous amount of time and energy to complete.  I just want to be prepared and ready for the time being...besides I am a long term planner by nature so I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row !!! LOL

But hopefully I will get my one year appt and then a green light soon after!!  Thank you for your kind words and encouragement it is much appreciated!!!!!

Much luv!!

Hey Laura,

Hope you get your ducks lined up and in a row, can related to being a planner, and that whatever way it gets done, the baby is a girl and I just think Laureen is a great name (lol). . .  in the same family with Laura. . .

Hugs, Laureen
