Hom from Hospital and doing well

Hi Everyone,

My gastric bypass was on Tuesday and everything went very well.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a visit.

While I loved everyone at Barix, I am very happy to be home again.  Now I need to contemplate the best way to get in my protein and fluids.  It is hard as I feel full with every sip I take.  My family has been great, so that part is nice.  I even have them out walking the neighborhood with me 4 times a day.

I am bound and determined to get in that 64 ounces of fluid and 89 grams of protein.  Dr. P said the fluid was the most important so I will be sure to get all of that.
I would love any creative ideas people have had on the first few weeks out and getting everything in.

Thanks for all your great help and support.

Hope all is well with everyone else out there.

Welcome to the losing side of the bench.

Remember that broth is fluid, jello is fluid, pretty much all you take in in the early days are fluid based.  Just keep that bottle with you everywhere and sip, sip and sip.

Take care, Laureen

Hi Joy,
It was good to see you at Barix. I am glad that you are home and doing well.
You have to keep a drink with you at all times and just keep sipping. You will get your
fluids all in before you know it. It just takes a little time.

Welcome aboard!!

I really liked the sf freezer pops that come in diet crush, diet root beer and diet dr. pepper flavors.

Thanks for the advice.   I am keeping a drink with me at all times and it is going, but slowly.  It gets easier, right?

Tammy, thanks for coming to visit, I appreciated it.

Also, where did you find the SF Diet crush, Root beer and Dr Pepper freezer pops? They sound good!

Absolutely!  Think of yourself as a baby right now....you will learn to eat all over again.  Don't stress out, just do the best you can do...every day you will be able to get a bit more in.

I think I found them at Redners or Giant.  They are the two places I typically shop at.

Wegman's also has a no sugar added fudge pop (their brand) that is incredible!  As a matter of fact...I think I will make a wegmans run this afternoon to get more...they were out last week!

Welcome home!!!  So glad your surgery went well and that you are now home and are on the road to recovery.  Remember to keep walking and sipping and resting and we'll be looking forward to hearing how you continue to progress :)

I came home last Saturday (2/21) and I feel great.  Fluids get much easier.  A week down the road you will be an old pro at this fluid thing we all go through.  Best Wishes.
