Has anyone here had Drs. Garber or Monk?

Was wondering how you liked them? Also, with the Clinical Weight Loss program, is that considered a physician-supervised diet for 6 months?

My appt for surgical consult is May 26th with Dr. Garber.  Next month I start my 6-month weight program.

In reading through my insurance guidelines, it does not specify a consult with pulmonary or cardiology, just physician supervised diet for six months and visit with nutritionist and psychiatrist/psychologist.

My surgeon was Dr. Shop in Hershey, but since I have moved closer to york, Dr. Monk follows me now. My boss just has WLS 2 weeks ago with Garber and is doing fantastic. My best friend will have Dr. Monk on the 13th of March. They are both great guys and the staff for Clinical weight loss there is wonderful.

You should only have to do what insurance requires, but you may have to do a few other things for the docs too. That is depending on each persons cir****tances I suppose.

But you will be happy with your journey. Dr. Monk really knows his stuff. Good luck.

Thanks for answering.  That's encouraging news!  A new friend of mine had Dr. Monk and has not had any problems at all.  She is 14 or so months out.    I went to the informative meeting and also attended a support group so far.  Everyone was just great.  I hope everything continues to go well from this point on.  Honestly, I'm a bit nervous about making this decision, but it's still a long way from now.  I'm reading everything I can to prepare myself.

I researched for over 2 years before I even attended a meeting..........LOL. So being scared and nervous is normal. You will know if it's right for you. Good luck and feel free to contact me whenever. I am not too far from you! LOL

Congratulations, I see you are due in April.  So is my nephew's wife.  I'm going to be a great aunt to a little girl.  I hope you are feeling real good, it's coming into home-stretch now for you....it won't be long. 

I had Dr. Monk.  I really loved hime he is a wonderful surgeon and does know his ****  But I am not impressed with the aftercare program.  Just my personal opinion.  I would still take Dr. Monk over anyone else though.  He is really a great surgeon.  I just can't say enough about him.

What's the matter with the aftercare program?  What would you change if you could?  Are you going to the support groups?  You look amazing!!!  WOW, I can't believe how much weight you've lost.  Thanks for answering.

Hello I had Dr Garber he is great  and I have had no problems I am 4 months out and have lost 115 pounds since surgery  I have no complaints with him at all great guy!!

My gosh, you're doing really good.  Did you have to drink the liquid protein for 10 days prior to surgery?  It's nice to hear you liked Dr. Garber and had such great success.  Any information you can think of to share would be great.  Quick question, though, how long after you completed your required 6 month supervised weight loss program until insurance approval and date?

Well it depends on your insurance it took after all was done less then a week for approval and was schedules like 2 weeks after that  was very easy for me and I didnt do the liquid diet before surgery but all went well anything else you wanna know let me know Angie
