Norm's just fine....

Me on the other hand...   my knee keeps grinding/locking...    and it's progressivly getting worse. I was told it would get better with weight loss...  and ironically it's gotten 100% WORSE.   I guess that's what I get for letting myself weigh 400 lbs.

Mary - sorry to hear about the knee! They told me the EXACT SAME thing with my back! I lost 100 pounds and could not stand up straight for 6 months! It might sound crazy - but try a chiropractor! She helped every joint in my body! I now see her religiously as it is the only thing that helps!

Hope that this gets better soon

Liz

PS - I had a knee injury in HS and took glucosamine - not sure if we can take it now but it worked wonders then

Grinding and locking isn`t good. You could have worn away the cartilage and be bone on bone(painful) or have torn loose bits of cartilage that are called floaters that can occasionally jam in the joint.

First of all - I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you.  As an fyi you can always text or call my cell if I'm not on the boards so much....610-969-6264 (that goes for any of you)  so that hopefully I get the message sooner.

Sorry to hear about the knee problems, too.  That totally sux!

And as far as orthopedic surgeons....I don't know any doctors in the area as of yet.  It's hard at LVH because the "private" guys don't admit...they have residents and interns and hospitalists and all sorts of people running around that hospital who do the admitting - most of the time from a computer 3 floors above us or something like that....so I don't even know who they are that is admitting the person.

If my brain is functioning tonight (I've been in a zombie like state the past few days and haven't been able to get 2 and 2 to add up to 4....) I will try to remember to ask around at work tonight and tomorrow night and see what I can find out.

Sorry this whole response was basically nothing I could help you with :(

I just really appreciate your response :)

I asked around at work, and got referred to a place called OOA over on Tilghman street in allentown.   Their whole facility is self-sufficient...  they do all their testing/surgeries in house!   So I'm going to try to get in with them...

Thanks for everyone's responses!!!

Pray for a good turn out....     NO SURGERY!

If you would consider going into Philly and IF you end up needing surgery, you may want to consider the Rothman Institute down at Jefferson. They were ranked the best in the Delaware Valley by US News and World Report for four years in a row.  My mom had knee surgery there almost 3 years ago and was extremely happy.  I do remember that they started her off with cortizone shots first to see if that would help...so that might be something you want to ask about.

However....let's keep our fingers crossed that NO surgery is needed.

Orthopedic Associates of Allentown big group some very good surgeons in the mix. Hawkins, Hawk and Brislin in that group have great reps for shoulders. One excellent source for orthopedic surgeon referrals is from Physical Therapy places. They get to see the results and the particular protocol of the various surgeons.
