OT: Dillinger Update - Weekend was a Roller Coaster Ride
I spent the entire weekend caring for my boy and have not had time to check in here, but I am happy to say, after having a rough night Saturday, as he was not being fooled in all the usual ways I have used in the past to make him take his meds, so he whimpered and whined and I had to make a trip back to UofP at 6 a.m. yesterday for him to get an injection of pain medication, things have begun to really turn around. I have now found out that peanut butter is a wonderful place to hide their drugs ;)
His appetite is still nil (other than peanut butter), but the vet said that is normal and that we will start giving him an appetite inducing drug today if he does not start taking in food by this afternoon. She is not concerned as he is drinking, doing his business and his surgical incision is clean and healing nicely. I am home, taking vacation time until he turns the corner more and as he wants to be near me, which is a positive sign, as initially, he just wanted to be left alone. Last night he curled up beside me on the areo mattress I have set up in the middle of my living room, and wanted me to hug and pet him. The areobed also makes it possible for him to get up on the couch, his other favorite place to be. He is going to be even more spoiled when all this is behind us. . .
Prayers and positive thoughts for all those in need,
Thank you and hugs, Laureen
and Dillinger

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

How can you not spoil 'someone' completely who totally trusts you and loves you unconditionally? All these things will have Dillinger heal - he wants to get better for you, you know.
Sounds like even tho there are some rough patches he is doing very well, and that's wonderful to hear - good thoughts and prayers still coming your way!

Glad he is doing better. Hope he is back to his "old" self in no time.
