Sorry to hear that the vicodin didn't work for you :( and that you are feeling under the weather. Hope you feel better soon!!

I don't know if ultram is ok now but when I googled it is said that it was a narcotic not an NSAID so it should be fine, I think that Pam is at work tonight - hopefully she'll jump on and answer - if you do take it before then take a pepcid a few minutes before and eat something - this is what I had to do when I took things on the "no no list"

Hope you feel better soon!

Ultram is safe for us as far as I'm aware.  It is not a narcotic per say...rather a "kind of narcotic"....it's hard to explain....

If the vicodin made you nauseous, woozy, tired, or loopy it's not that it didn't agree with you - it's that it is a strong a narcotic and that's what it does.  You can try taking it with food to help with some of the side effects but it still may make you sleepy.

I'm not a huge fan of any narcotic for uti's - they just don't do the trick.  Did they give you pyridium?  That's what you need - the stuff is AWESOME.  And you can get the same basic stuff over the counter.  Look in any drug store for something that says "urinary analgesic" or "urinary tract infection relief" and that should be it.  They will turn your  urine orange....and can also make your contacts orange, so if you wear contacts - take them out.  This goes for pyridium too.

Feel better!  UTI's are AWFUL

OH....and take the bactrim with food, too...I find a lot of antibiotics upset my stomach if I don't.
Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses.

LOL I was going to mention that stuff Pam.  I was on it and I loved it!  Only problem is the leaking orange and I suggest you wear a pad while taking it.  It's the only thing that I've found worked almost immediately for the pain and once the antibiotics go into effect you can stop taking the pyridium.  We carry an over the counter version at Giant Eagle in the feminine health care center.
