Darned IRS
Grrrr In 2007, my husband left his company and started with another... he sold the stock he had earned with previous employer... we were under the impression that the stock proceeds amount was included on his W-2...as it had previouly been... so filed taxes and went on with life. Yesterday the IRS sends us a bill stating that we owe nearly $3K because that income wasn't reported.
We are now trying to prove that it was.. with copies of his past monthly earnings statements from the employer. The income amount listed for 1/1/07 to his term date of 8/7/07 was way way over what 7 1/2 months of his salary would have been... by about 11K.. the amount of stock proceeds. When he contacted the employer, they said that simular things had happened to others that year, and we are hoping to be able to prove that the taxes were paid..due to the proceeds being on his W-2..
Sorry, just wanted to vent!! Don't have enough stress with one of our vehicles in the shop for expensive electronics repairs (won't pass inspection due to speedometer not working)!!! We were using our GPS as our speedometer. LOL.... Pregnant daughter... huge gas bill due to extremely cold weather last month, ... etc, etc.. you don't want to hear about all of it, but man!! No wonder my eating habits are getting out of control again!
If you haven't guessed it, I am a STRESS eater!!!!
Thanks for listening... really! Just needed to vent....

Soory you are going thru this but welcome to my world they hit us up for $3000.00 from 2006 and we are making payments. I guess we all have our baskets of poop and once we see what the other person's basket looks like we don't want to trade. Sorry you're having all this trouble. Chin up things have a way of working out. Uhg! I so hate the IRS. Wonder if we will get lucky and get a stimulus check? Sorry trying to humor us out of this mood.
Hi Blanche,
Wow, we have similar problems. I spent an hour on the phone with the IRS today. The guy was actually helpful to me too.
Anyway, I owe about $2500 for my 2007 taxes, and I also have a pregnant daughter. It's okay, I knew about the money I owed for 2007. Also, my daughter is due in August, and I am so excited that my granddaughter will get a baby brother or sister.
Hang in there. Us stress eaters have to find alternatives to eating. I am still trying to figure out what will work for me the best.
Hugs,
Trish

Seek always to do some good, somewhere. Every man has to seek in his own way to realize his true worth. You must give some time to your fellow man. For remember, you don't live in a world all your own. Your brothers are here too.

I hear ya to a degree! A few years back we had our taxes done, for multiple years in a row, by a CPA who came very highly recommended. And our refunds were pretty substantial considering we were unmarried and didn't own almost anything. But then we had a falling out with him and last year we went to H&R block....and they questioned my w-2...apparantly my old employer had never taken the right amount of taxes out - I was listed as exempt status.....so for 5 years I hadn't paid into about, oh, 80% of the taxes I was supposed to. And I was young and stupid and didn't even realize it. The silver lining of that is that it was totally my employers fault so I sent the IRS to them and my lawyer to them and that seemed to work.Anyway - good luck with everything!
