Hey guys - Unfortunately when I contacted the school about the lid collection this is the e-mail that I got in response

Liz,
Thank you so very much for contacting me about the caps.  Unfortunately that collection concluded on the 6th and they were not taking any more.  (I think we overwhelmed them with 40 bags)  :)      If you were looking for another way to make a difference, feel free to check out aveda.com and see if you could recycle them there.  Thank you so much and take care!

   - Jeff :)

If you go to http://aveda.aveda.com/aboutaveda/caps.asp they do run a program to recycle these caps.

It turns out that the article that I saw ran AFTER the collection deadline ended.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Oh to bad!

I was gonna mention it to you, anyway though...because as I was talking about it at work a guy said "Oh good because my daughter's school has been saving lids for some sort of charity and it just ended so I will keep saving them for you..." and I couldn't help but wonder if it was the same charity considering it was a school he mentioned.

For those who have collected caps already...I looked at the webpage liz listed.  There is a salon here in Easton that will take the caps as part of a recycling campaign.  As opposed to "wasting" the caps we have already collected, I could take them and bring them.  I will collect them at Liz's house at the next support group meeting if anyone wants to bring them.

To be perfectly honest - I am not as all "fired up" about saving the caps considering it is not for life saving treatment.  However, I think giving the caps we do have to recycling is probably a good idea, and doesn't seem like a 'waste' of some of the resources we have already put out.

Don't apologize, Liz.  You were trying to do a nice thing and no one should ever apologize for that.  Hopefully that sweet little boy got the help he needed.

Liz,
I am sort of glad that this is over with as I was already taking it too far.
I found some water bottles in the trash can at work - with the lids still on - and I was mad that my coworkers did not take them off for me. So yes - I was rooting aorund in the kitchen trash and took them out - how gross is that.
I then was eyeing up the recycling bins at my condo and was about ready to put on rubber gloves and go dumpster diving for lids.
So please do not be sorry - you tried to do a good thing and that is that.

THanks All!! You are what keep me going! Pam thanks for taking them to the local collection site -I have a bunch here.

IT just makes me so mad - why would they publi**** in the paper that they were collecting them AFTER the deadline ended? My guess is someone made a mistake.

THank You all for your efforts!

Tammy - you are a brave woman! lol I must say I was doing it too!!!

Liz
