OT - I guess they like me
So I'm gonna say whooppeee for me for the moment. No sooner did I walk in the door from work today when guess who called? Yup, work! Of course the generally pessimistic self (about my job - I always feel like I should have done something better) immediately said "Uh oh - what did I forget to do NOW" I answered the phone....it was my manager. Double gulp.
He proceeds to tell me about this program LVH has, a "retention program" And he tells me I am elligible for it. Basically if I agree to stay for two years, meaning the remainder of 2009 and all of 2010, which I was planning on doing anyway....and sign a contract saying so....at the end of this year I get a very large lump sum "bonus" check and then at the end of next year I get an even larger lump sum bonus check.
Of course, if I get terminated the game changes - but really - I don't generally plan on doing something so outrageously wrong that I get terminated so that shouldn't be a problem what so ever.
I'm pretty happy about this! Nothing like getting extra money for doing something you were gonna do - and the fact that it comes right after the holidays is even better just when finances seem to be beyond hope most of the time.

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)

I started reading and completely freaked out! All I could think was that someone complained about us being on the phone the other night and now you were taking heat for it....Paranoid much Val? LOL.
I'm sooo happy for you!!! More often than not, employers will just forget about their "good" employees. There's no recognition for those who deserve it and at the same time, no ramifications for those who barely pull their own weight. I think it says alot that your manager made it a point to call you at home during non-work hours to talk to you about this. They're obviously very happy with your job performance and you should be very proud of yourself and all that you are accomplishing there!
