OT - Are there any gardeners amongst us?
Thanks!! Where are they? I'll go google it now and see if I can find something.
My fortsythia's are along the bank infrot of the house - near the road - I can't wait till they get big and overgrown! That's why I picked that spot.
LOL that is the best kind of garden shopping! Last year I filled my tribute many times over with barely room to get my purse in!

I'm a gardener too. Still eating my carrots from last year! I do diff types of tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, pickles, giant zucchinis, yellow and green squash, baby eggplants, onions, peppers, basil, mint, thyme, rosemary and I had the cutest pumpkins the year before last. Tried corn but it needs lots of light and little watering and the hubby gave it the same amount as the rest and stunted it. It did end up as corn husk decoration for Halloween though! I'm close enough to Amish farms to pick up the best cantaloupes etc so what I can't fit in my border gardens I buy there. You don't need much ground to fill your freezer and you can do plenty just in pots. Great exercise and de-stresser.
Liz, I grew up with lilacs all around my Mom's house and in the spring the wind would blow the scent through the open windows....it was heavenly, oh, I envy you ;-) I will eventually have them at my place when I find the correct spot for them. There's a great outdoor weekend flea market called Shups Grove out on 897 near Adamstown. A couple local growers have tables there and I've been picking up local perennials there at great prices. This year'll be the test to see how last year's trees I picked up there bloom.

awesome!!
last year was my first stab at corn - I did 4 rows and it did good! we picked at least a dozen ears then decorated with it for Halloween. It was the best corn ever though! I didn't want to do it again this year but Chris does so I'll give it a whirl!
Where did you ever find a giant zucchini plant?!! You are lucky you have the amish stands. We have a farmers market but it is small and rediuclously priced!

Liz they are in between Churchville and Southampton but they are really worth the trip. I just want to let all of you know I have my gardening hat and water bottle and radio ready to go. I guess maybe one more month to at least start cleaning up the yard and 3 dogs to keep me company. Life is good I always say.
Another suggestion, if you want I can bring you the books since you do not work that far from me and you and hubby can go through them and plan what you want to plant by writing a list and then take it from there and when you are done I'll pick them back up. Its not a problem really! I would be glad to do it for you or I can send them up with someone whos coming to your house unless I can come. I love to share info on gardening.
I've always wanted to do gardening. Last year I did flowers at our old house...they worked out pretty good.
This year we have a back patio which I plan on getting some containers of some sort and doing at least some herbs and maybe some veggies. There's also an area around the house that is between the house and the walkway which was left as dirt. I want to ask them, seeing as though we rent if we're "allowed" to plant flowers there. If so, I probably will.
I may be another one calling you for advice, though!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)
