We have been shopping around for laptops the last few weeks. I have never owned one. so I don't know much about them. I only want it for surfing the web, maybe play a few games, and downloading pics from my camera.

I won't be "gaming" that I need something fancy, only pogo or something.
I won't be doing anything that I need a ton of memory .

I don't want to buy over my head. Any advice on soem good ones? I get a discount at Dell through work. But have been looking around at all kinds.

Just thought someone would have some good advice.

Jo - I have the inspiron I believe 1510 laptop at home for basically the same purposes and it is great. I got it for Christmas but believe that it was $400 - $500. You can get them pretty cheap at places like Best Buy and even Walmart these days.

Happy Shopping!

Dell has some good basic PC's as well - check out Circuit City - they're going out of business and may have some good deals. We use Dells at work and I have 2 Dell laptops at home - love them.

I personally prefer to use Macs and would have to recomend the MacBook as my laptop of choice. Dell's are poorly made, and their customer service is horrendous. I think white MacBooks run from $800-$900, and the latest version is around $1200. Not only are they good investments for a high quality product, but you can also stop in at any Apple Store and have one of the "geniuses" look at your computer if you experience any problems.
