LA Fitness

Hi all,

So since moving I hadn't joined a gym.  I didn't know which ones were in the area and in all honesty didn't spend much energy trying to find one.  I did a few quick searches online but that was about it.  I have been doing exercise at home, but not to the degree I used to do at the gym.  And I desperately miss my spin classes.

As it turns out in the mail today I got a flyer for LA Fitness which is apparantly about 10 minutes or so from me.  I plan on going to check them out in the next day or so.

Does anyone belong to one?  What do you think?  Is this where Kim had problems with the whole ankle weight thing?

Any imput would be great!

Hi Pam,

My issue and the Ankle weights was with Planet Fitness.  I do know about LA Fitness and found that their sales people and personal trainers were not as knowledgable as I would expect for the amount of money they charge.  Its true they have a pool - but that is all they have going for them.

If you can live without a pool check out "The Fitness Club at Easton".  It will cost you $15 per month without any long term contract commitment.  The web address for them is:

www.eastonfitnessclub.com

This should be pretty close to you and gaging on the pics looks to be pretty good.

I belong now to three gyms   - Anytime Fitness, B&R in Feasterville and the University Fitness Center on Campus at UW in Madison, WI (where I am working). Locally I like Anytime because I can literally go there anytime day or night and I also can go to any of their clubs across the country without a hasstle.  I like B&R because of the classes and the pool and their trainers are on top of things.

Hope this helped.  PM me if I can answer anything more.

Thanks Kim, I appreciate the imput (and clarification on the ankle weight thing for that matter )  I will definately look into the website (apparantly I can't while at work - although I was able to access LA Fitness' website here, that website is categorized as "games" go figure)

It's really the spin classes I'm after.....the pool I never used all that much, except to relax in.

And actually I think that might be the place that is literally 2 minutes away from me.  I had plans to go in there - but based only on their outward sign....I thought they were a nothing like facility.  We shall see.

While you`re over there check out Retro Fitness in the 25th street shopping center.(near Pizza Hut) Brand new and about 20 bucks a month. They were doing a 99 dollar for a year special. Are you far from the Y on Lafeyette St?

I'm not sure about the Y ono Lafeyette street.  I don't know where I am, LOL

I will definately check out Retro - but to my understanding they don't have classes?  That's what I'm looking for....

Pam

I belong to LA Fitness and they have some good classes, including spin class, but I will say, at least down my way, I am finding that it is about body count and that lately it has been so crowded as to deter me from getting there when I would normally be going, that being said, I am currently checking out other gyms during the time of day I need to use them, as I don't have time to stand around and wait to use equipment when I'm in my 16th hour of the day and want to get in, get moving and get done.

Have a great day.  Laureen

I totally agree with that, Laureen.  I'll have to go at different times of the day to see where they stand with "body count" and what not...

My old roommate belongd to LA Fitness in Allentown and he hated it. He regretted signing his contract and was always looking for a new place to go. He said it was always crowded, unless he went late late at night.
