Who has had plastic/what have you had/etc...
Hi Heather - did you talk to any of the PS who work out of Barix? Just curious because I had a call from Barix yesterday re my one year anniversary coming up and it was just a courtesy call - see how things were going, etc., and then we discussed plastics a little bit and they're going to send me some info. I'm not there yet but will be some day.
I did run into a Barix patient at my hairdressers the other week who had her surgery 4 years ago and is getting ready to have a tummy tuck and breast lift at Barix, and she seemed very pleased with the surgeon and the arrangements - her insurance is paying for it, which I couldn't believe, but think is awesome!
That's about all the info I can provide...hope it helps.

yes...my one option is a barix PS...and I would have the surgery at Barix. The other guy is an excellent surgeon, but he just wasnt for me....everyone is so different in what they are looking for or what their expectations are, that I have learned just how important it is to shop around and find the right fit for me.

Heather,
Congratulations on taking the next step. I don't know if I will be of help. I had two panni's one pre-surgery and one post after a 230 lbs. loss. Both of my procedures were done at Pennsylvania Hospital by two different surgeons. Dr. Adrian Lo did my pre-op and I loved him so much. He doesn't take any kind of insurance that I know of but his work is great. Perhaps you can utilize his website to see some of the work that is done. He donates one day a week to perform surgeries on kids who are in need.
My second surgery was with Fran Cedrone. She has a practice in Phillie and also in the Paoli area, I don't know where you are located. LIke Sandy I had a hernia repair and came away with no belly button. This didn't matter to me except when I went to clean it and realized it wasn't there anymore. I had some complications after this surgery due to an infection in one of the side incisions and also when they debried I came away with my own version of the Grand Canyon. I had to be on a vac for 2 months.
I still have some weight to lose before I get anywhere near my goal but because I want knee surgery next year the panni had to go. My insurance picked all but the deductibles
There are many plastic surgeons in the area and I know that from experience you have to feel comfortable with you choice as you will be spending a lot of time with them.
Best wishes to you. As I said I don't know if I was of any help, but if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. From the time that I had my consultation it took 3 weeks for approval and I scheduled within 2 months.

Hey heather ok so let me see if I can write this clearly before my ADD kicks in.
I had a consult with Dr Chapin and did not feel comfortable for a few reasons, no use of insurance. He told me i would need a flur de li ( SP) as part of my TT and I did not really think I would. The place has a spa like atmosphere that made me uncomfortable. he also recommended a LBL. Which I did not really want.
So on to Dr Herman, Like with Brader I felt comfortable immediately. He acted like a Dr.
He said he would only do the TT and one other procedure because he does not want you on the table for more than 5 hrs. He showed me what he could do with everything, arms thighs etc.
We decided on the TT and add a BL which he gave me a discount on. He told me if i could get the TT covered that I might as well do the BL at the same time because the OR would already be paid for.
He suggested that maybe I could do the arms and thighs at the same time later if I want. Good lord right now I cannot imagine it,
While I love Dr Herman it has been a pain in the A__ _ going to the Poconos for appts. So if you found someone you trusted closer to home, then that would probably be a better idea.
When it comes down to it, these procedures are not childs play. So be committed to it, know the recovery takes a long time. In my case 6 mos before i see results. and that you must feel comfortable and confident with the surgeon
Good luck and I am excited for you

Thanks Nicole! I talked to Dr. Herman's office this morning and have an appointment on the 23rd or 24th. We have a house up there, so I always have a place to stay and can grab the dogs and make a weekend out of it....if it doesnt have renters in it. I am not so concerned with the distance as I am with the results. My other option is in Langhorne and that is anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour and 15 depending on traffic. One other that I have an appointment with is right in Exton...so we will see.
Thanks for the input!
