Picky Eater
I am having surgery on the 18th of Feb.
, very picky with what I eat , I am a junk food eater which will cut out a lot of everything.
Have anyone just made it through with just the vitamins,water/crystal light, decaf coffee/splenda and nasty protein drinks
is that enough. because I know I'm not going to eat meat(not a vegetarian but just don't like meat)
I might eat a Philly cheese steak a few times a year but that it.
Love snow crab, chicken looks like a long way off.![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/indifferent.gif)
I just want to make this work, the only reason my weight stayed the same from the months I started is because I had a lupron shot right before starting this journey(to shrink fibroid) and from that fluids build up and than Lasix, hypertension and cholesterol reared it ugly head maybe because of my menopausal age of 46. So I wanted to stop the slippery slope get a grip on this before it get to a point of no return.![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/frown.gif)
I think this is the best thing for me right now.

Your body is the baggage you must carry through life. The more excess the baggage, the shorter the trip

well your tastes buds will change... no ifs or buts about it... a lot of things that sounded good before will just make you go ick later... so things will still sound good.... but don't freak out about it... I have a think for ice cream... now it is sugar free and almost fat free... still super yummy but that 1/2 cup is just the right amount to fix my craving for a while... cream cheese has 7 grams of protein per tablespoon...
one of my fave things is to make mine own protein pudding...
1 box of sugar free pudding mix- lemon
1 package of fat free cream cheese
2 cups of skim milk
Toss everything into the blender until the smooth...
It tastes just like a cheese cake... yummy!

One of our very good friends is a vegetarian and has done just fine. You will need to drink protein shakes for a while. Great sources of vegetarian protein are ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, milk, greek yogurt, lentils, quinoa, beans. Also - fish and seafood are an EXCELLENT source of protein.
Like Shannon mentioned - your taste buds will change after surgery, go into every meal with an open mind. Try everything again - you might just surprise yourself!
Best of luck!

Yup - there are vegetarians out here who are doing just fine.
Liz gave you some GREAT ideas on non meat protein ideas. Dairy is a big source of protein for me just because it's easy. I'm not sure if you eat cheese and yogurts and what not....but if you do you should have no trouble with it.
And oddly enough - you will begin to like things you haven't liked before, the healtheir type stuff. I'm 15 mos out and lately I've been really liking different veggies. I was never someone who hated veggies....but now it's like "OMG - that looks SOOOOO good" It's weird.
You will definately have to put in some effort to get your protein - and you MUST get it in. Early out a lot of people have trouble getting it in, and that's ok but you do have to keep trying and the further out you get you need to be consistent.
Good luck - post here often - there's lots of good ideas for protein and eating and what not!

Instead of complaining that the rosebush has thorns, be happy that the thorn bush has roses. ![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/thumbsup2.gif)
