My law office just got hit with it BIG TIME.  It has practically shut us down.  According to Microsoft, we were the first to report it.  Presently McAfee and Norton are building a patch to squa**** but they haven't been successful yet.  So be careful with your home computers.  This virus is big and bad!

Do you know the name of it....or how it is "commonly spread"?

If it's what I just got rid of...   it's called "SWP2009"   or spyware protect 2009.

It presents itself as an anti-virus software...  and corrupts all your files.

I spent all day saturday getting rid of it.

We just had it also...if it's the same one we just got, it appears as a pop up and pretends it's a Microsoft anti-virus warning...when you click  the 'x' to exit out/get rid of the screen you've got it.  It's not easy to get rid of.  We found an online patch that took care of it on my computer, but it took a week to get it cleared from DH's work computer with the computer experts working on it.  They said it can come in many ways attached to something else.
