Reading Hospital Weight Management anyone?????
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here is a lap band patient of The Reading Hospital Weight Management Center? I was just approved by my insurance company and I have my first pre-op tomorrow 2/5 with my surgeon. I was looking thru my binder for the millionth time and it says about a test that is given on the info and you need to get at least a 90%. I was wondering if there is anyone that can help me with what this is about. I know it is about the info that they give you in the binder but, like what? I can know it word from word but.......when it comes to a test....I am total brain dead!!!!! Now I am sooo nervous!!!!! Anyone out there that can help me?
Thanks
Doreen

If its any consolation....my surgeon was in Reading before he moved to Abington. His office had the same thing. We had to take a test during our final education class. It was a no brainer. As long as you've done your research and read your binder.....you will probably do fine! I had my binder memorized, just about!!!! There were 10 questions. They went through a slide show, education slide show thing, the nut did a slide show. Then you took the "test". The coordinator went over the test and explained an answer if you got it wrong. Or asked why you answered it that way. One guy in the class came late, fell asleep during the slide shows, got a bunch of the questions wrong...and still had his surgery!!!
I'm sure my Dr followed a lot of what he was doing up in Reading. Don't be too nervous, you will do fine!! Good luck to you!!

Doreen,
I had my lap-rny done at Reading in June 2007 by Dr. Ku. Please don't lose any sleep over the test. If it is the one I am thinking of, Lisa (the nutritionist) and Malissa do a great job with the education class (prior to surgery) and more or less make sure you can't fail. They are very committed to making sure their patients have the best knowledge to get through this procedure successfully and I'm sure if you are paying attention, you will do fine. The questions are pretty basic and not meant to trick you.
The Reading Hospital/Dr. Ku/The Weight Management Center has a great program with wonderful people to support you. I have nothing but praise for my experience and the all of wonderful people that are involved in the program (Dr. Ku, Malissa, Lisa, the office staff, the nurses at the hospital, etc.).
Good luck,
Eileen

I did not realise that I posted this twice. The first time I went to submit it, it told me there was an error. Sorry!! But anyway, There was no test so I am not sure what it meant in the binder about a test but I am sooooo releived!!!! I know that they would not have mislead me, they are wonderful but I go blank when it comes to the word "test", that is what I was worried about.
Thank You so much for your kind words. I do have to agree with you, they are all so wonderful. I am looking forward to years to come with them.
Thank You again.
