Tongue ulcers...missing something?
I've been getting a lot of those little sores/ulcers on my tongue lately. They've come and gone a couple times in the last few weeks. I wondered if it was just another in my long line of mystery symptoms, but have also wondered if perhaps I was missing something in my diet - some particular vitamin, maybe? Anyone experienced this or have any thoughts?
Thanks.
Lisa
Thanks.

it can be from hot drinks like coffee or tea. It can be from some spices in your foods. I can be from tobacco products. Or it could be from stomach or peptic ulcer.
There are Rx meds and home remedies for it. some docs have you take a B-complex to help heal the tongue.
Home remedies for ulcers on tongue are
*applying butter on the lesions to alleviate the pain
*a solution of salt and warm water to clean
I am not an expert by any means. It's just that my grandmother started experiencing them a few months back. So we looked into it for her. I am not trying to scare you, but if they get pretty bad or continue to come back, MAKE sure you get it checked out. My grandmother is a stubborn woman and let one go to the point that she was sent to a surgeon, had to have a biopsy and she has cancer of the tongue. She never drank, smoked and doesn't eat spicy foods so they can only think it may have came from stomach acid.
So don't blow it off...........get checked out just to be sure.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!
Oddly enough I have gotten them when I EAT to MUCH vitamin C things like citrus fruits. It doesn't happen if I get my vitamin C in by vitamin supplements.
I would still get it looked into just to be safe....

Hey Lisa, in your workups were you checked by a bariatric doc for your B-12? I experienced some of the same symptoms with the sciatica, fatigue, dizziness and spaciness and my B-12 was 280. My PCP found that "normal", my surgeon did not. He had told me low for us was 450. Once I started supps most of my symptoms have gone away or improved significantly. The other thought was mono, which is unusual in an adult (but I've had it twice, so has Heather Graham) and that will give you the off and on tiredness, dizziness and low grade temp as well and in my case it gave me paralysis of my right arm (which was preceded by tingling etc. but I ignored it as a muscle pull/pinched nerve). NEVER even considered Mono nor did the 5 docs in the hosp I saw (the last one wanted bone marrow). No. 6 (the infectious disease guy) diagnosed me in less than 10 mins. Gotta keep pressing, you'll get your answer.
PS - I'm currently seeing a Chiro and the tingling in my feet I've had since 6 mos. post-op is almost gone after 4 treatments. Compressed weight on the spine blocking the nerve pathway; here I thought it was gonna be a side effect of WLS. Yippee!!

I had little ulcers on my tongue right after surgery. What I do when I get them is mix a little peroxide with water and rinse my mouth out. Just like a mouth wash. It cleans the germs in your mouth and it also helps to whiten your teeth. Not sure what causes them but this rinse sure does help. I do it even when I don't have ulcers.
