***Super Bowl Sunday Roll Call***
Good Morning all! Here I sit from Jersey at mom's house. Been in jersey since late Friday night. I have wound up working the whole weekend - but that's ok. The $$ will be worth it. I got up Friday night and came to directly to work - worked 11p-7a and had a lovely nice quiet first night back with some really good friends. Then came to moms and saw mom and my one brother before going to bed around 11a. Then I got up around 7 and saw my father and my mom and brother again and then worked 11p-7a. So it's 8:30ish now...I'll probably be up for a little over an hour or so...hopefully talk to the hubby to see how his weekend is going and then go to bed. The parents are having a super bowl party, impromptu as of yesterday afternoon, so when I get up some extended family like grandparents and an aunt will be here so I'll get to visit with them (my goal is to be up around 6ish today)
It'll be to work at 11pm till 7am...and then I'll be returning home to pa. I do have my "real" job on Monday night...so I'm hoping to get out on time (today was a bit late as we were so busy) and get home to go to bed.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Pam
My day should be fairly quiet. Nephew finally got back into his own apt last night - heat is fixed. He was a good houseguest but it was time for him to be back in his own place. Hubby and I finally have the house to ourselves - probably won't know what to do with each other!
Met some friends yesterday for an afternoon outing and overdid it with the drinks and bar food - paid for it last night, so this morning I bundled up, put the sweater on the dog (he looks so cute in it) and off we went for a very long brisk walk. Felt good to air myself out.
No big plans for us for the game tonight - we will spend the evening quietly rooting on the Steelers - guess we have to go with the PA team.
Hope everyone has a great day - stay warm - its another frigid one out there.
Kathy
It's supposed to be 56 degrees today in VA! I will enjoy it that is for sure. Yesterday, we went to the mall and delighted ourselves with a snack at P.F. Chang. It was a gastromic adventure!! Is that a word? lol
Today, I hope to be outside doing something. Money is tight so I'm not sure what it will be. I'd love to go to one more restaurant. Friday night, we went to Rio Grande. Talk about a loud noisey place. But the food was excellent as usual.
A good visit with family and friends as well as preparing for my hearing on Tuesday.
I will let you know all mu doings as they happen.
I don't know if I slept at all. My daughter was invited to an impromptu sleepover at a friend's house and my DH is out of town so what's a girl to do? Go out of course!
A friend of mine from high school just became the owner of a nightclub he had been the DJ at for the last couple of years. So, another friend who I found on facebook decided to come in from Lansdale with her husband to go congratulate him and spend some time at the club. We were going to meet at 9 there before the crowds got there so we could actually talk to him since he still DJ's there, too. BUT of course, it didn't open til 9. So, we went to the Pig Pen which is an old bowling alley that was upgraded when we got the minor league baseball team the Iron Pigs here. It is pretty cool now with about 8 lanes, an arcade and a bar and a LOT of lights.. the bar was even stocked with a bartender who did tricks with fire breathing.. hmmm... I wasn't sure I was even in Allentown anymore.. Auntie Em Auntie Em......
We left there to go to the friend's club at 10. Another high school bud and his wife met us there. After being frisked at the door and having to go put my pens, lactaid pills and Dayquil from my purse into the car because they were not allowed inside, we paid the $5 cover and went inside. Now we're wondering if we really want to go to a club where we had to go through all of this. I knew it was not the BEST place to hang out, but wanted to go support him a little. We were the only people in there at that early hour so we talked and I tasted my first appletini. I am NOT a drinker and though it tasted ok, I only got through a few sips and gave it to my friend. We never made it to the dance floor since we were the only ones there. About an hour later, the "regular" crowd started trickling in and we knew it was time to head out.
We were going to go back to the Pig Pen, but then I thought, why should they spend all that money on drinks in a loud place where we couldn't talk if we can go somewhere where the drinks are super cheap and it is pretty quiet.
So, I took them to the Fraternal Order of Eagles club where I am a member. Their 2 cosmopolitans cost less than 1 appletini at either other bar. They left at the decent hour of about 12:30 or so, but ME NOOOOOOO had to take advantage of the freedom and stayed there. My friend is the bartender and we were the only sober ones in the place laughing at the drunkards who were in there. The club has to lock the door at 2, but can stay open for the people still inside until 3-3:30. We were there until 3:30. Apparently 1:50 is the best time to come for the people who really like to drink or need entertaining because this fireman and his friend came in and they kept us laughing until 3:30.
It was so much fun jus****ching the interactions.. The fireman even said to me that he wished just once he could witness the night through MY eyes.. I told him it was hysterical and he wouldn't remember it tomorrow. LOL!!! He lives down the street, in walking distance, so I moved his car to a parking place that could be a little more permanent and he walked home. I wonder how long it will take him to figure out where his car is when he wakes up today. HA!
Anyway, this was supposed to a roll call about today, but I had to share the events of the evening/morning with you.
Today, I need to pick up my daughter at noon. She has a birthday party for a friend at 2 and then we are probably going back to the above Eagles club to watch the game. She can stay in there until 9 so that will be perfect. I'll be more than ready to go to bed by then and she has to get to bed for school tomorrow.
That's my day if I can stay awake long enough..I'm not a football fan and could care less who wins so I'll just say I hope the scores end up being what is on the football pool I am in so I can win some $$$$ $
Hope you have a great day and try to choose the "healthier" snacks if you are headed to a super bowl party!
Liz
PS - Pam if you get this could you give me a call, sent you a text last night just something I wanted to fill you in on
Today we will be going to Karas for a super bowl get together. I am not sure you would classify it as a party because I think we were the only ones invited LOL. we wont stay for the whole thing. we dont follow sports so it wont matter to us.
hope yal have a good day. Pam make sure you take care of yourself.
Attempted to go to church this morning but my car wouldn't start, had something to do with the Battery. My husband jump started it and then I took it to Walmart to check it. While there got some goodies for the Tailgate party we are going to later with friends at the Bowling Alley. The kids all get to bowl and the parents get to watch the game on 4 big screens.
Go Steelers!
