Have you tried Cetaphil? My derm recomended the skin cleanser and lotion. It's worked really well for me, especially the cleanser, since the soap I was using was especially drying. The lotion is very much like Aveeno, but much thicker.

Love this thread Liz!!  I've never had a problem with dry skin, in my life!!  These past few months have been terrible!!!!  My legs itch at night!  And only really at night!  There are a few spots in particular. I Naired my legs.....well it found all my spots!!  It burned all the spots!  While I was away on vacation (hopefully you read my gloating post about it), they didn't itch AT ALL!!!!  So I'm assuming it is the Dry weather her in the Lehigh Valley!  They started itching me again Tuesday night.  I was using an Aloe After Sun cream.  That was working nice.  I would put it on right before bed (while they were itching) and it calmed them down, pretty quick!!!

Let us know what Dr Brader says though!  I'm interested!!  I'm not a big lotion user.

There are never any problems, only solutions.  quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

My stats:
Starting weight 234 lbs    Height 5 ft 6 in
Goal in 7 months (127 lbs)
Currently: 120-123 lbs
Tops Small   Bottoms size 2!!!!

another idea is to check with your local health food store and see if they have something that will work... I have really sensitive skin but I can use the all natural stuff on mine... not sure if you can.. but check it... I have soap and lotion made of olive oil etc..

Also see if it is also your soap... the other thing is to see if there is a spa that might to an all natual skin thing too...

Woohoo now your talking! "Sorry CHris, I HAVE to go to the spa to get a dry skin treatment - oh and they have to do a massage to work it all in!" LOL

Thanks Ladies - I am going to check out the organic section at Wegman's and I'll try the aloe!

Might want to try using coconut oil right from the jar instead of soap - know a lady who has been doing this and she looks very young for her age...I buy mine at Trader Joe's in the food oil section;it is white and kind of thick like crisco.

I lotion all over in the winter, but my hands still get super dry and itchy.  My derm recommends Aquaphor, even for dry lips.  He said the greasy lotions are the best because they keep the moisture in.  I hate greasy stuff, but I have to admit he's right.  I can sympathize with what you're going through.  I hope you soon find something that gives you relief!!

My doctor says that taking omega 3 fatty acids help with dry skin and hair. They have a orange flavored gel called coromega that I take because it is easy to get down.

Liz you are goning to think I am crazy but try switching laundry detergent and bath soaps. and then try lotions if all else fails we'll take up a collection and send you to the spa we may even send Chris with you.  Oh geeze another thing to deal with after surgery!  Its bad enough we lose hair and dump and all of that happy stuff. My hands are dry too. It could be your dish detergent too. Just a suggestion.  Ya never know our bodies change tolerance.

Hi Liz
I bought that stuff that Tammy told you about YU-BE for my hands  and I love it
my hands are split near the cuticles and they bleed it feels like they were scliced with a knife, I put that stuff on and hey don't hurt anymore I have used all kinds of stuff this is definetly worth the money. I bought it on E-bay I only bought the tube it was 10.00 & that included shipping now I am going back to buy the jars
