CRUSHED! Can somebody please help?

I just found out an hour ago that my ins. coordinater will not submit my paperwork because of my 6-month pre op diet. Let me explain.... The weigh in's look like this:
1- 234 lb
2- 227 lb
3- 228 lb
4- 229 lb
5- 231 lb
6- 229 lb
the only reason i got back down to 229 was because I did the atkins diet to try and lose weight specifically for that weigh in, which I had achieved. Well I went off Atkins because my nut told me to on the 16th, and so I gained everything back that I had lost plus 2lbs more!!!
The ins. coordinater wants me to do one more weigh in on the 13th and get down to 227 or less...that is 3 weeks away... I can barely lose 2lbs a month let alone 7lbs or more in only 3 weeks!
Please, I've busted my butt for the past 6 months to get this approval to help me change my future and save my life and I am willing to do anything to get to the point where they'll say "ok".  Is there any advice anyone can give me? I'm so upset!

First, calm down - its going to work out and be okay - these insurance coordinators will drive you crazy and then they start playing 'God' on top of everything else. You're going to be fine.

I don't know if this will work for you or not since you have a lot less to lose than I did, but I'm betting you'll at least lose what you want - for my surgery I had to go on a 10 day liquid diet - lordy now I can't recall if it was all clear liquids or not, but you can give it a try - I had sugar free popsicles, jello, lots of water, and for the broth I would strain regular canned soups (non-condensed) and use the broth from that - it was much more flavorful than just plain broth - and try keeping to low-sodium so you don't retain water. Bet you could do this for one week standing on your head and lose the weight you need to. Give it a try - can't hurt, right?

Best of luck to you - and again, you'll be fine and you'll get  your date and surgery - just going to have to jump through a few more frustrating hoops.

Sorry to hear that they are doing this to you!!  I had to loose 9 pounds in 6 days before my surgery or I was going to be cancelled. I went on the slimfast diet - shake for breakfast and lunch then meat and veggies for dinner and sometimes another shake after dinner. PLENTY of water, you could even try taking a diuretic to loose some of the water weight.

Everything happens for a reason - I hope that all goes well and you can get these few pounds off!

Thanks to everyone! I guess doing one more weigh in is better than being denied...so I'm gonna do what it takes. I just wish my INS company realized that if I could lose wt by myself, I wouldnt need this surgery!!
Thanks again to all of you! Just say a lil prayer for me that everything will go through OK!

Insurance companies are ridiculous - I had to do a 3 month diet and exercise regime in order to be approved for mine, which wasn't too bad, but then they wanted a 5 year history of my weight and my family doctor only had 3 with 2 missing years in there, so I had to track down my ob-gyn and get my missing weight from them. The insurance company said they wanted to make sure I had been overweight for a while - for crying out loud I weighed 388 lbs!! Did they think I gained all that in one year? But they are so regulated and can just make things tougher on us, but you'll get thru all this. and it will be worth it.

Kathy's liquid diet suggestion is good.  Most of us had to go a clear liquid diet prior to surgery and we all lost 10+ lbs.  It's not easy, but doable, and it will get  you to where you need to be.  The only additional item I feel is necessary is that you include protein shakes during the liquid diet.  You will need the protein to keep you feeling full.  Also, I would suggest using low sodium soups so you don't run the risk of water retention.  You can do this!  Good luck and be sure to keep us posted!

I didn't think it mattered if you lost gained or stayed the same during the 6 mos thing - but I guess the coordinators know what is up.
The liquid diet works - I did it "self in flicted" for about two weeks before hand because I had gained weight and if I didn't lose it my surgeon would cancel my surgery.

Liquid diet staples:

LF/SF yogurts
LF milk
SF Jello
Low Sodium Broth (the regular stuff can make you retain water = weight gain)
SF kook aid
Crystal Lite
Water

Generally speaking I would have liquids all day and one "meal" in the early evening consisting of vegetables and chicken breast or something like that.

It's hell - but it works!

Pam, how did you seperate your "meals" i guess? I was thinking:
B-8oz protein shake (25g protein)
S- sf/ff yogurt (6oz) (6g protein)
L-8oz protein shake (25g protein)
S- sf Jello
D- 3oz chicken breast (23g protein) & 1 cup cooked non-starchy veg. (0-4g protein)
S (if needed) 8oz protein shake (25g protein)

Also, because it's liquid, should i still count calories? I'd like to make my protein shakes with milk if at all possible, but I'll pass if it's going to keep me from losing weight. Each scoop of my whey protein powder has 110kcal/2g fat/25g protein. If I add FF milk it'll be 200kcal/2g fat/ 32g protein.
