My online dating waste of time...

I have come across:
1) a guy who was into "chubby chicks" and targets women he can fatten up!
2) a married man who calls himself "separated" who targets overweight or formerly chubby low self esteemers (imagine how low HIS self esteem must be)
3) the "I could get that weight off of you" macho's
and the, you look fine to me, why would you do that to yourself, everyone gains it back anyway...

...on line dating was best described to me by a headhunter, we use resumes to screen people OUT not in; and then you work the pile AND when we do phone screens, we've found that they never get better than they are on the phone....maybe the headhunter has some words of wisdom?

Mike---I have no idea what I'm doing, I have no experience in dating. And you're not a jerk.

And, I had had a glass of wine.

good points though.....and well taken.

I'm glad I told him cause it doesn't waste more of my time. If he says that I can get a feel for where he's coming from. This guy apparently doesn't want to get to know me, he just wants sex partners. good to know that right away.

I'm sorry Cheryl you had a bad experience. However I know some people when nervous can say sarcastic stuff to be "cute" and perhaps that was his lame attempt. If you really like him you might try another few chats and see if he continues to be an idiot.

Also, i'm with Mike, I see no reason to share that you had WLS or that you lost all that weight. I think it puts the person on the receiving end in an awkward position and really this early on serves no purpose.

Don't knock onlie dating, i've had success in the past with is and I personally think it's a better way to meet/get to know people than in bars. (even though I met Scott in a bar )

Best of luck.

Wow - all the responses are sooooo good.  I personally like Tammy's and Mike's.

And whoever said they are everywhere...bars...restaurants...online...you name it, we find em.

Better luck!

Well, how about this...I met a guy on Friday and he had no upper teeth!!!  We met for drinks and as he was talking I'm saying to myself "I don't think he has any upper teeth."  Well, sure enough he smiled and looked up and all I saw were gums!!!!  So that was it for me :)

But I can't knock internet dating.  I met Garry online through AOL eons ago.  And, though, we're not together anymore, my life was forever changed by a man who loved me for me and who gave me my son, Connor!!!  And I'll be forever grateful!!

Hang in there, Cheryl!!!  I'm right there with ya!!!

Guys have a weird side, however, put the shoe on the other foot a second, if you were not weight challenged your entire life and a guy you hadn't met yet brought that subject up, you'd avoid him like the plague.  I think its best not to mention the subject until things are serious with a potential guy.

Just for a laugh, here is a link to show how stupid guys are: MasterCard.asf (1910KB)

If the link doesn't work I'll have to forward the attachment via email to anyone who is interested.

I suppose there are completely normal people on dating websites.

But they're very hard to find amongst the lunatics, cheaters, losers, sex predators, liars, etc., etc., etc.

Caveat emptor.

Cheryl the sweetheart you spoke to that asked you that tacky question.. I would have asked him if he forgot to take his meds today and hung up.  You never know about other people.  I'm sure that there are some women that guys say that about.  But I have to say that its funny that the more you get to know a guy the more comfortable some of them get around us and their gross habits see to ozzze out.
