Heee heee heee...you make me laugh liz.

I'm sure I was taught this at some point in my schooling journey.

You couldn't pay me enough to ressurect that lecture from the basement of my brain at this point in time, though :)  I think it is lost forever.

Hopefully Dr. Brader will be able to answer your and vals questions.  And share the answer with the rest of us....because there are lots of valid points in this topic

Ohhh...and I bet Dr. Cheryl would be able to answer this, too...she is SUPER knowledgable about the whole vitamin thing...

Thanks Pam! I'll have to quiz Dr Brader and Dr Cheryl!

I don't want you to have to dig through too many cobwebs!! :) God knows there are things buried in my brain that I will NEVER be able to ressurect! lol

I like the chewable centrums.  But I am finding I'm an odd woman out on this subject as most people I talk to seem to hate them.

Interesting about the added iron and constipation issue - because I was out of my vitamins for over a week (bad girl, I know) so I wasn't taking them...and noticed for some "unknown" reason I wasn't having as many issues in that department, which has been a constant struggle for me since surgery.  I'm wondering if that isn't the reason.  I might have to switch things up a bit....

the centrums made me wanna hurl right after surgery, but now 4 months out i kind of like them. I am at the point where I dont have to take chewables, but i have a hard time swallowing the others even when i cut them up.

important thing is that you take them no matter what. i've not been very vigilant in the vitamin department and all of my hair is falling out. not a very pretty thing, i assue you. but it's really gotten my attention and i'm taking my vitamins now, that's for sure.

I don't mean this to sound like a down play on the importance of the vitamin supplements because they ARE vitally imporant for so many reasons....

that being said....don't be surprised if the increase in vigilance with vitamins DOESN'T help the hair loss.  I was absolutely 100% compliant up until about 8 mos out with my vitamin supplements and even started taking biotin at 2 weeks out and continued till about 6 mos out without Dr. Pupkova's suggestion (but I did get her OK) to help prevent the hair loss.  I was also 95% compliant with protein goals from about 3 weeks out.

I lost more hair than I care to think about.  At about 8 mos out I finally got my hair cut...and it seemed to stop right after that.  I'm wondering if it wasn't a combination of the stress on my body, along with unhealthy hair to begin with, and just the whole timing factor.  It seems to stop anywhere between 6 and 8 mos for most people.  I stopped the biotin at 6 mos out because it was obviously doing absolutely nothing for my hair loss and just another few pills I was taking daily....

I am 2 months post surgery.  From the beginning I have been able to take normal one a day vitamins and swallow them.  I'm noticing now that I'm starting to have issues and a few times I've thrown them back up.  I have been pondering going to chewable myself.  My surgeon told me that in the morning the lap band is tighter and I'm noticing thats true.  I can barely eat in the morning so I just do my shake then and sometimes that comes up.

All I can suggest is you try different types and stick with what works.  Too bad we cant do a vitamin exchange when we find one that doesnt work for us LOL.

Hello, I am with Pam I take Centruim orange flavors I hated them first because they reminded me of the old Tang orange mix but I got used to them.  You do what you gotta do.  Also someone reccomended Selenium 300 mcg and Zinc 100 mg for hair loss so I get out my little pill cutter and start chopping and away I go.  I also used the Nioxin and that s*it is expensive.  I think any stress heavy duty causes hair loss. And I take Caltrat Chewable that comes in different fruit flavors and its okay.  I was told that Flinstones had too much sugar??? I could be wrong so don't go by me with that.
