A few questions...
Hi everyone....
I know I don't post here often, but I read posts a ton of times in a day! I was just wondering if I could ask a few questions?
I seem to be in a minor stall and I am looking to get some more food ideas/snack ideas.....I was wondering how many people eat the Glennys or Genisoy soy crisps as a snack? I always found myself being a nite snacker after I put my twins to bed....after surgery I found that I needed a subsitute for the nacho chips, etc that I was eating, so I found the soy crisps. I think they are a great substitute for the crunch/snack addiction that I had. I limit myself to the exact serving size and feel completely satisfied.....I was just wondering if anyone else found these to be a staple snack....
Also, I am seeing that alot of people snack on ricotta cheese? Seems that alot of you might mix in some sugar free syrups with them? I was wondering where everyone gets those from? I have not seen them in stores, and I was wondering if anyone knew any stores that sold them?
I appreciate all posts on this board as I have been able to keep things in perspective just by reading....
Thanks in advance for all how reply!
Jackie

Hi Jackie! You can use the syrups in ricotta, Marshall's sells them, most larger grocery stores sell a few over by the coffee or you can order them online. Or, like i Do you can use extracts - from the baking aisle at the grocery store. A little goes a long way. Just use a little extract and a bit of splenda. or you can use sugar free jam.
I have a terrible time with the "bad" carbs so I am trying to avoid them at the moment. I have heard of a lot of people eating the soy chips, I just can't get into them. I am going to pick up some stuff like that when I am in Wegman's tonight - I need something to replace the crackers!
best of luck to you!

Hi Jackie,
I now eat the Ricotta cheese mixture that Pam suggested. I usually put 1/3 cup of part skim Ricotta cheese -- the fat free stuff is disgusting. Then 2 packets of splenda, some ground cinnamon and like a tablespoon of lite cool whip. YUM-O!!! Pam also suggests taking the Ricotta cheese, some pasta sauce and mozzarella cheese, heat it up and YUM-O. I haven't done that yet. But I have to tell you that the Ricotta cheese sweet mixture is really good and a great source of calcium and protein.
Good luck.

I snack on the Glenny's apple cinnamon soy crisps... I love them!! I can't really get into the salty/savory flavors of the soy crisps..but the apple cinnamon I love! I have a bag waiting for me right now that I'll probably open for my after lunch snack.

I LOVE them too....almost all flavors of them!! So do you purchase yours in the supermarket? I am asking as my husband loves them too and we seem to go through them soooo fast with him eating them. He did not have weight loss surgery, but for the new year he is doing the diet routine and is happy that he found an alternative to chips too..........I have seen them on some sites, but shipping seems high.........I think we pay on average about $2.70 a bag.....
I LOVE the soy chips - get them at Trader Joe's and the grocery store - my favs are the cheese and ranch. The only thing is the nut told me to eat 1/2 a serving at a time, not a full serving, so I was doing that because I was in a stall myself. I don't buy them often, tho, because I can't keep my fingers out of the bag!!
I also found pre-packaged peanuts, cashews and almonds at Costco - 2 oz bags - loads of protein - crunchy and that salt fix - plus the packages are pre-measured so you can't go over. And they're very satisfying.
Good luck - the stall won't last forever.

ps: I ordered my DaVinci syrups on line - can't remember the website now but I bet Pam will post and give it to you - I'm not a big fan of ricotta cheese so I don't use it in that.
