- considered a "center of excellence"
- extensive 6 month pre-op program
- good staff

I'm not sure what you want to know... but these are the basics.

Best wishes!

I know someone who swears it's the best.  He is planning on starting a whole support group and advocacy for them.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

My father in law started the steps to have the surgery done there because it is a center of excellence and quit. He got so disgusted with all the steps that he had to take and all the meetings and appointments they required. Personally I feel if you really want it you will do whatever it takes to get what you want. Just my opinion though.

Well I can only say good things about them. I had my surgery on 8/29/08. at my heighest weight. Feb 08 I weighed 331. Ive lost over  100 lbs.

They have been great. Supportive, helpful and willing to go out of there way to make you feel comfortable.

I am forever grateful for them.

Good luck!!!

I just had my surgery 12/1/08 and had all positive experiences with the Nutrition team from Dr. Still, Shannon McShea, PA-C, the dieticians, Joanne Rogers and certainly Dr. Strodel and Toni Filer RN.  Great people!!

My insurance required 6 mo of education, dieting, testing just the same as was required by Geisinger.  I needed that time to 'get ready' for my new life.

PM me if you want to ask more questions.  Best of luck.

I had my surgery there in april 2007, only good things to say about them...number one they do require you to do the program.....there is a saying.........if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.......... so with this in mind, it is very important to go thru the program, this is not a quickie fix and it is a change for ever .......we didn;t get overweight fast........we learned over many years of overeating and not being healthy for some of us.....(not all, some have had medical problems) but for us...who love food....and I mean love to eat it........we need to learn how to change our habits, and Geisinger does everything they can to make sure we succeed.....It is important to go to the support group meeting before and /after your surgery....I go to mostly all groups twice a month and each time come out of there learining something or being a support to someone else....I hope this has helped.....you can email me anytime if I can help in this area...I live in Ashland and would be glad to help anyone....
