Looking for cute clothes where you don't look like a hooker...

Ok, I am having a lot of issues with clothes now a days... I'm a girl... I have boobs... I don't need plunging v-neck shirts to prove I'm a girl and that I have boobs... or I feel like I am stuck between where to shop... too old to shop at places like American Eagle but too young to shop at Christopher and Banks and I know a lot of you have said the same thing... I will be 35 this summer... I don't need to dress like a *****hooker which for some reason is in style... argh!

Well I was doing some web searching for granola that I could make myself and found a great blog recipe (will be a different entry later) and found this super cute clothing site... there is some younger looking stuff but it doesn't scream your too old to wear it and don't look like a tramp etc... so check out the site- http://www.christa-taylor.com/

I am personally in love with these pieces...

Shannon - I hear ya! Those things are cute! I have trouble mostly with tops. I have boobs too (still a 38 C/D) but I also still have a spare tire, very hard to dress. I spent so many years shopping in Sears - one of the few places that carried plus sized clothes when I was in school and dressed looking like an old lady - there hadn't been a realization that maybe someone could be overweight AND want to be stylish. When Lane Bryant came about I was thrilled because it gave me a chance at something "trendy". Now that I am in a smaller size I have a lot of trouble dressing this new body. Jeans are also a challenge - I am 5'7" tall so I am somewhere between a tall and a regular. I HATE the lowcut jeans that make my butt crack hang out. Glad that I am not the only one who is having trouble! Luckily I don't have to dress up for work very often and live in jeans and sweaters this time of the year. I usually shop at Target and Wal-Mart - Trendy I know! lol but they do have some cute stuff. I also shop at Kohl's on occasion but have trouble finding things other then t's and sweaters that fit properly. I almost had a break down in september when I had to shop for my cousin's wedding, I couldn't find a damn thing that fit.

But I digress.... the site is cute -I am going to check it out more!

oh and I'll be 29 in June and am happily married - I don't find the need to dress like that either (not that I ever did! lol)

I totally understand what you are talking about.  I'm quiet a bit older then both of you.  I'm 41 but I still want to dress trendy but I don't want to look like I have a "for sale" sign hung around my neck...LOL!!

I am not able to spend a lot of money on my clothes due to the fact that our budget is very tight.

I find all of my clothes at Salvation Army.  I also have the opportunity to try all different styles and sometimes I even step out of my comfort zone...LOL!!!

For the first time in a very, very long time I've been enjoying shopping for myself.  Now the next thing tI really need to find is a bra that does something for my shape.  The girls really need a good "lift" and to be honest I'm sure that I need a professional fitting.  I've never been fitted for a bra....I even think I might give Victorias Secret a try...I've never even stepped a foot into the store before but now there are things in there and I know I'll be able to wear.

Have fun shopping and yes, those clothes are really cute!!

"Very sexy push up bra"
"Bio fit" bra

Both from VS are AWESOME and lift the girls to their proper position.

VS is pricey.  But so far, it has been worth it for me.

ok, I think we all need to go shopping together lol... I can do bra fittings... done 100s of them at Lane Bryant...

Liz- check out this bra from Lane Bryant- Balconette- http://www.lanebryant.com/pagebuilder/cacique_thumbnails?cgid1=79&cgid2=913&my_nav=cacique_intimates&cat=bras&subcat=balconette
It isn't the most comfty bra but it gives lots of support and lifts amazing... they go down to a 36C and up too a 44H... so they have your size... and right now the retail store has a sale on them... outlets only had the plain ones in just white and black...

I tried to the SA and Goodwill and they didn't have anything over a size 6 in both of them... and I'm still plus size lol... I haven't tried the other consignment stores in the area...

For the most part I agree with you guys.   In fact a lot of what I am seeing in the stores these days are the shirts with a band, or a tie, or a wide strip or SOMETHING right under the boob line.  At my heavy weight, and even still now, they make me look pregnant.  VERY pregnant.  And they normally have plunging neck lines...so I look like boobs and belly.  Not very attractive.

I say most part only because (and this might surprise some of you...) but I have a very "gothic" side when I go out to the clubs.  That being said - I have a few outfits which are quite hookerish.  Granted...I dont' go out often in them...but Brian loves it (always wear one when I want to have fun with him later on in the evening) and now that I've turned 28 I should probably not wear them period...but I have always liked them and now with the smaller body love them even more.....
