I don't think I would have overreacted like that.  I would have taken it for what it is -  a young person trying to assert authority while a corporate manager was there.  You may have gotten a different reaction if you would have said okay, and then asked the next day when corporate wasn't there.  He was, after all, trying to enforce rules while his bosses' boss was there - even if you felt the rule was sketchy.

I am not a member of any gym right now, however a couple of years ago i was a Planet Fitness member.  I moved and the Planet Fitness near my house was now 20 to 30 minutes away.  I dreaded making that trip and all i really used was the treadmill anyway so I bought a treadmill for my home.  Now I tried to cancel my membership 3 times, 1st i called and they said i had to come in.  2nd went in and they said i had to have a written letter. 3rd time I went in with my written letter and they told me the person that i needed to speak to was on vacation and I would have to come back.  I left and went to my bank told them i lost my card and they replaced my card and I never heard from PF again.

I was worried it would show up on my credit report.  it hasn't.

That's good to hear, as I had the SAME problem with a PF out here in California. They kept calling and telling me I had to pay the $58 cancellation fee, and I was like "um no, I cancelled after that contract was over", they charged my card, I disputed and got a new card, but never heard from those little ****s at PF San Bernardino again

I got kicked out this morning for talking on my cellphone with wireless headset using a treadmill. And I made the mistake of show the person I was talking on my phone the other people next to me when the manager Montrose Ohio facility came up to me to inform me my infraction. It gave me two infractions and grounds to cancel my membership. I was kicked out by via email. I apologized however it made no difference. I hope they cancelled the monthly dues.

I would have asked the jerk where on my contract does it say that I cannot bring in my own ankle weights? and I agree I would notify corporate about their manager's attitude and also you personally go through your contract and see if it tells you under what conditions you can term it without early term fee costs.  There should be something to protect the consumer.  Being the stinker that I know I can be I would have told the jerk where to stick his membership.  Also there is a gym at the Philadelphia Aquadic Club on Grant Ave for I think 30.00 a month you may want to look into that and they obviously have a swimming pool.  Just a suggestion.  Good luck.  And if someone else can bring their ouwn equipment then it should be enforced towards them also if not that is discrimination so have at it.
