Poll for Kari - Would you have WLS again?

I had my surgery on July 18th, 2007

I would definitely have WLS again...  without question.  I only regret not doing it earlier.
I have a bit of anemia, so I take 30 mg of iron a day, which sometimes makes me constipated... but other than that, I haven't had any "real" complications.

Still want to lose 40 lbs and I am starting to research Plastics.

Debi,

You read my post earlier, so I think you know what I'll say, but here goes:

Had my surgery October 16, 2007, I have not had any complications, only sorry I waited so long, but things happen in the time they are meant and I'm glad I had it when I did, as we have a lot of benefits, most especially in the support that is available, so yes, I'd do it all over again!

I want to lose another 15 to 20 lbs., hoping to have plastics in the next 2 years.

Hugs, Laureen

Absolutely!  I only wish I would have done it sooner.  I am down 139 pounds and, according to Dr. Brader, in perfect health(other than thyroid issues, but that will be a life long thing and WLS has nothing to do with it one way or the other).  He said I could stop where I am if I wanted to, but I am still aiming for the last 40 pounds.  I am also starting to look into plastics, which I want to have before the end of 2009.  It's been an amazing 2+ years and I do not have one regret.

i would do it again.
I do not regret it.
But i do now know how much of
my success for the long term is mental
so be prepared for some hard emotional work.
The best thing I ever did

In a heart beat.

And I agree with Shauna...if Dr. Pupkova told me the only way this surgery would work would be to stand on my head for 30 minutes a day for the rest of my life, I would do that to.

I had a complication with a bowel obstruction at about 8 mos out.

And I have to work darn hard to keep myself under control and things like that.  And exercise is still work (although more enjoyable now)

All that into account....

IN A FREAKING HEARTBEAT and yearly if that's what the program took!

had my surgery Sept 5th, 2006... down a 128 pounds... 88 pounds to go...

I wish I would of had this sooner... but then again if I would of had sooner would I have Lorelei now? Only complication I have had is the non stop stalling and nuts not knowing how to help us when we are working out... aka finding the right balance for us as indivudals and not the masses... but other than that... things have gone great...

I am a little more than 100 days out and I do not regret it one bit. I also thus far have had no complications whatsoever. The first 2 weeks were tough, but since then I make this stuff look easy

As others have said about doing it early, I am so happy I did not wait. Once I hit 250 I knew that I was doomed...and then before I knew it I was 270. I did everything (including changing jobs) to make this possible and I am so happy I made getting this monkey off my back the #1 priority in my life.

You will be fine, just put one foot in front of the other and before you know it you'll be a skinny minnie AND a healthy one too.

Yes, in a heart beat, or a New York minute.  I wish I had done it the first time it was suggested to me by my gyno doc.  But, I needed to get through grad school, and try eating disorder treatment one more time first.

My only complications are the B12 anemia, and the hernia I developed, because I had open.  No biggie to me.  I get my B12 shot regularly, and take some sublingual as well.  I had my hernia repaired a year ago, and am fine now.

I am grateful for what I have lost so far, and hope to finish to goal by my granddaughter's second birthday in June.

Huggles,
Trish
