My Bariatric Eating recipe reviews...

For thanksgiving, I made a bunch of the recipes from bariatriceating.com   and I wanted to let you all know what I (and the rest of the family) thought of them!

Spiced roasted nuts: http://www.bariatriceating.com/BEhealthnutrition/recipes/spi cedroastednuts.php

Instead of just pecans, I used peanuts and mixed nuts.  Strange combonation of spices at first, but these were so super easy to make, and tasted great!  I even added a bit more hot sauce to the nuts to give them an extra kick.    Everyone LOVED them! I ended up making two batches!

Fluffy Cranberry Salad:

This was amazing, and also really easy to make with a food processer!   A great alternative to just jellied cranberry sauce (which has a ton of sugar anyway).  I added chopped walnuts to it to give it a bit more texture!

Sugar free pecan pie:
http://www.bariatriceating.com/BEhealthnutrition/recipes/pec anpie.php

I was really hesitant about this, only because I am a huge fan of pecan pie.  I wasn't sure it was really going to taste the same...   but it was a HIT!  it even held the same consistency as regular pecan pie...   you couldn't tell it was made with splenda!

Egg Nog:
http://www.bariatriceating.com/BEhealthnutrition/recipes/egg nog.php

This was absolutely fantastic.  Instead of the 2% milk, I used a container of soy milk.  It really tasted just like eggnog without the booze!  It was great, and everyone also loved this!

Just an FYI for anyone cooking for the upcomming holidays!!!   :)

I made a sugar free cranberry sauce that I thought was from that site but not sure - it wasn't the fluffy one you mentioned because I didn't use a food processor - it was a jar of sugar free jelly (any flavor), a 12 oz bag of cranberries, one cup of Splenda and some cinnamon - it was delicious and it went faster than the old canned stuff!

I too made the fluffy cranberry salad, and everyone loved it.  For christmas I think I want to try the sugar free pecan pie.  Thanks for the site!
