I could cry right now.

Hi Everyone,
As most of you know, I have been whining a lot lately about being achy and having a lot of pain in my joints.  I also have cellulitis on my shins.  Well, the pain was so bad last night I called my doctor, who had just seen me on Monday.  He ordered bloodwork for lyme disease and lupus.  I am not one to get too excited about tests until I get the results.

I am one to cry if I am in extreme pain.  Here is my dilemma.  My doctor knows I am in recovery for alcoholism, so he ordered Ibuprofen.  The Tylenol is just not cutting the pain at all.  I am so desperate for relief, I am going to take the Ibuprofen tonight, and then call Dr. Marymor in the morning.

I am not a whiner where pain is concerned.  I did not have as much discomfort post-op from my open RNY, or my hernia surgery last year.  The closest thing this reminds me of was when I had sinus surgery many years ago.

Sorry to dump, but I am just so tired and need a shoulder to cry on.

Hugs,
Trish

I am so sorry. Are there any supplements that you can use like glucosamine? Or ginger or papaya, anything that has anti inflamatory properties? I know you have just been miserable and I am so sorry

Thanks Nicole,
I think glucosamine is on our DO NOT TAKE list from Barix, though I am not sure.  It used to tear my stomach up when I took it prior to my surgery.  I did better on just the Ibuprofen back then.  I will talk to doc Marymor for sure on Friday.

Huggles,
Trish

Trish,

I certainly hope you feel better soon.

Taking the ibuprofin shouldn't be that big of a deal.  Yes, it can cause ulcers.  However...take it with food and you might need to be started on some pepcid or some other medication with it and should be fine.

I hope you get some relief.

Thanks Pam,
I am also taking Carafate, which coats the stomach, which my gastro doc prescribed for me when I did have the ulcers after my RNY.  I feel like such a big baby right now.

Thanks for your support and medical expertise.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi Trish - I'm sorry to hear you're having so much pain, and that can be so stressful and make you want to cry, too, especially when you can't get any relief. When I had to take naperson (sp?) for my ankle/foot Dr Boe told me to take 2 Pepcid tablets when I took the medication to coat my stomach - thankfully I didn't have to stay on it long.

I sure hope you're feeling better soon - take care...Kathy
