I was born in Woodside in Boulevard Hospital, which is no longer there.  We moved from there to Levittown, Long Island then to Bergen County in north Jersey, which is where I spent most of my childhood.  I don't make it back to Queens very often, but I still have relatives there, plus a lot of my friends are now moving to Long Island City, Astoria and even Woodside -- they say they're the new, hip neighborhoods apparently!

Have you seen the photos of Shea Stadium?  It makes me sad to see it being torn down.  I can't wait to see the new stadium though!

I know exactly where Boulevard Hospital was and yes, LIC, Astoria, Woodside, Sunnyside, that whole area has become popular because of it's desired location right over the bridge from Manhattan, where the prices of everything is ridiculous, though now LIC, Astoria and all those places that are 20 minutes from Manhattan are commanding high prices, as well, though not Manhattan ones. . .  The section I grew up in was actually walking distance from Shea Stadium, a long walk, but a walk that I made many times as a kid and now the rare occasion I have to go back to Flushing it is nothing like the Flushing I grew up in, downtown Flushing has become "Little Asia".  My brother lives in LI, my great aunt and cousin live in Rego Park and Forest Hills, the familial house we grew up around, which was a big Dutch Colonial house that my family (Great Grandmother, along with 3 of her children) bought in 1951 and moved to from Bensonhurst, was sold in 1999 and my cousin drove by this past Spring and it was being torn down to build one of those newer homes, that made us very sad. . .

I have not seen any photos of them tearing down the old stadium, as for the new stadium, it looks beautiful, as I was at Shea 3 times this summer to see the Mets and Phillies play and was able to see the new stadium as they were finishing it.  The only sad part is all these new stadiums are being built at premium prices, which is going to make it harder for the average family to take their kids to a game, I hope to get to a game or two next year, we'll see how it goes.

It's been nice chatting with you. . .

Have a great day!  Laureen

Hey Lesley,
My die-hard Phillies fan son lives in Astoria.  He loves it.  He is right off Astoria Boulevard on 33rd Street, near the Burger King, and the train station there.  He loves living there, except that he can'****ch the Phils on TV unless they are playing the Mets.

Hugs,
Trish

Good morning all!

Congrats to all you Philly fans!

Today I am doing a lot of last minute packing.  I have paperwork strewn about my house that I have been ignoring.  I also need to get a lot of the little things done and start cleaning things up.  This, although it doesn't sound like a lot will take quite a bit of time.

I also have to write out thank you cards for my friends at work as tonight is my last night there.  It will no doubt be very emotional.

I also have to run to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription.  Oddly enough - it is for my cats...but is cheaper under my prescription plan...so one of the er docs wrote a script for me.  To funny.

Then hopefully by 2 or 3 it will be bed time and then back to work.  We have extra staff on tonight...and I've already been told I don't have to take patients if I don't want to (assuming we are "manageable")  I've told them there's absolutely no way I could come to work and not take care of patients...besides...it will keep me from crying all night long.  I did, however, tell them if there's an really intensive critical patients...I'll take the break on that and pick up the easier patients.

Have a great day!

Pam

Good Thursday morning everyone,

WOOOOHOOOOO to the World Champion Phillies!!!  What an exciting time!!!  Thank goodness the parade is not until Friday, because I have to be downtown at 15th and JFK today at 12:30 for a job.  So I don't know what would have happened if it was today.  I think some of the jobs on our books would have probably been cancelled.

Other than my job today, nothing much else is going on.  I have a doctor's appointment tonight at 5:45.  And then it will be home to relax.

Have a great Thursday!!!

Karen

I got to work and the two boys are not here yet since they were out partying all night they sent emails at 4am saying they just got home. My boss already told us we can all have off to go to the parade tomorrow. This cowgirl will take off but not go to the parade~

Congrats to the Phillies!  You all must be thrilled!

I haven't been posting much the past few days.  I had a sinus infection over the weekend, and I've been in a bit of a funk otherwise too.  I'm feeling better today though, both sinus-wise and funk-wise.

Today I'm in my office and I am FREEZING.  As I was driving to wor****pt thinking that my heated seats were broken, but it turns out that they're working fine, I'm just really cold.  I have to go to the gastro doc today.  Dr. Pupkova was concerned because I've been having heartburn and the Pepcid she gave me wasn't helping.  Wish me luck with that -- I feel like I am all doctored out now and I'm not looking forward to going.

After that, I'm going to go to the gym for some swimming, and then tonight I have my yoga class.  I'm glad the weekend will be here soon.  Have a good day all!
