No not rambling at all! Thanks for all of the wonderfully useful information! The woman who handles this stuff is out today and monday so I will talk to her next week when she comes back and see what is covered.

Thanks again!

Liz. If a company offer short or long term disability you should find out who the co. is and contact them directly. I also work for a small company. Only 3 fulltime employees and 3 part time. I was covered for my surgery. Im not sure what it says on leave for baby but its possible!

I was gonna say basically the same thing - we were looking into that because of NJ being mandated and I knew Pa was not thanks to a cousin of mine who did not have STD in pa...and to make matters worse...she is a teachers assistant...and what her employer did - as opposed to not being paid for those 3 mos....her paychecks are pre calculated on how many weeks per year she works....so they subtracted the time she was out....and not only did not pay her during the time she was out...but something about prorated her checks the rest of that year - so she didn't have income for 3 mos AND got less in her paycheck for an entire school year after that.  It was a big mess.

Definately check into your company.  How long were you out for your surgery and how was that covered?

And then if needed look into other private insurance.

I was only out 4 daysfor my gastric bypass... then 2 weeks of 1/2 days and I had to take vacation time and no-pay for that. I am 99.8% sure that we don't have disability insurance.

Thanks for all of the input everyone! You are all such great support even for those things NOT WLS related!

Hi Liz
unlike NJ the state of PA ,DOES NOT have disability for pregnancy, sometimes your employer will give it to you with pay. check if they offer this to you and you cannot collect unemployment for pregnancy
Good Luck
