Definitely check out Dr. Bonanni from Abington Memorial Hospital.  He performs the VSG (the first part of the DS), and is an excellent surgeon.  He has a wonderful new facility and his staff is pretty good, although somewhat understaffed.  He's working on getting lots of new staff, including new physicians (he's now got 2 more!).

Good luck, and let us know how you make out!

I also recommend Dr. B.  It's not to far from West Chester either.  I work in West Chester, are you new to the area?  I see your other doc was in CA that is why I ask.  What ever you decide, Good Luck on your Journey!!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.  I grew up in PA and moved back from San Francisco a year and a half ago after living there for almost 19 years.

I found out about LapSF in San Francisco after I moved east however and learned of the VSG.   I decided to go with LapSF  because they have done the most laproscopic VSGs in the US.  It is considered a "new" surgery here since it has only been done as a stand alone surgery for 5 years or so eventhough it has been part of the DS surgery since the 1980s.  Most insurance companies are not approving yet but they will before too long as it is shown to be highly effective for those in the lower BMI ranges 35-45 and has the least side effects and long term complications.  Anyway most US baratric surgeons don't have that much experience with it as a laproscopic procedure.  I thought I'd check to see if anyone was doing it here in PA and look at there # of cases.  From Dr. B's profile, which may be out of date - he has done only 10 VSGs and 30 Laprascopic DS surgeries  Doesn't mean he is not excellent, he has revceived rave reviews.  However the LapSF surgeons have done thousands so I guess I'll stick with them.   Thanks again for all your help.

You got to go with who you feel comfortable with, and you  have an excellent doctor.
Now keep in mind Dr. B is local so if you have any follow up or complications, check them out before your surgery to see if they can help you , IF you need them.
