Greek Yogurt

My lovely wife bought Greek Yogurt for us the other day.  She bought Chobani.  I noted the flavored ones have a bit much sugar so I was the lucky receipient of all the plain low fat greek yogurts.

The first spoonful tasted like I was sucking back sour cream.  It was palitable but OH MY!!  My wife had warned me that it needed some sweetner and that even our baby girl didn't like the plain greek yogurt.  But, hey....what can I say.  I should learn to trust my wife after +9years of marrage.  So, two packets of Splenda later this stuff is pretty good and has 17g of protein in 6OZ of yogurt (130 calories, 30 from fat).  Not bad.

Just wanted to share.

The stuff is better than....well...better than a lot of things LOL   LOVE greek yogurt!!  Yes, it needs splenda (or whatever you choose to use) and it is great with sf jams/jelly, sf davinci syrups, fruit, cereal, etc....I jsut discovered mixing the orange sf syrup and cut up bananas in the yogurt....OMG...yummy.  As I type, I am eatting it with sf blueberry jam...tastes just like the "real" thing.   You can also use it in recipies were you would normally use sour cream...like in dips.

It was one of the best finds I have had since surgery.

I am glad you are enjoying it.

I LOVE GREEK Yogurt.  One of the greatest things the boards turned me onto (especially because of the protein content).  I mix it with protein powder too when I need a surge of it (not over 25 because can't really process more than that at once).  I also mix it with this pumpkin dessert that Mary I. posted that is very tasty.  I stir it into soups and the flavor is great.  Oh, and I also mix it with ricotta.  Mixed with ricotta cuts some of the "sharp" taste and then mix with all or any other items and it's very nice (like the texture and the milder taste).  Glad you found it AND that you learned to trust your wife.  Teehee.

Greg,
I keep no sugar added fruit in the freezer (blueberries, strawberries, peaches).
I thaw a little of whatever I feel like eating today - say strawberries, and then cut them up and add them to the greek yogurt with one pack of splenda.
It is delicious.
My favorite is strawberry.

Yea - plain it is almost EXACTLY like sour cream.  Speaking of which - I use it instead of sour cream on tacos and I make sour cream and onion dip with it so it's a high protein no fat dip for veggies and what not.

Splenda is good in it.

I sometimes use splenda and frozen berries (well obviously I let the berries thaw)

But my absolute fav is to use sf davinci syrups (I buy mine online...but you can find them in stores)  My two current obsessive flavors are:  Coconut and then coconut mixed with pineapple for a pina colada taste.  Oh my!!  I also love the lemon, lime, raspberry flavors.

Others have sprinkled in sf jello crystals or crystal lite powders.  Obviously not a whole packet - just to taste.

And yep - 6 ounces and 17gm of protein is awesome!  I eat one almost every day, sometimes two!
